No patience = no tanks

That’s weird. In reality, experienced tanks are usually dps, who transfer to a new role, not vice versa. According to you say, people play worse over time and have to take refuge in a less skilled role ?
Even in high rio keys, where elitists care about rio over fun, tanks are still in shortage.
You are a joke for thinking that being a playmaker is easier than being a follower.

I mean yes… that is what I am saying. Usually weaker dps transfer over to tanks because it is a far easier role at every level beyond the very start of the game. They are not “playmakers” whatever that means.

usually with NW, you don’t have to worry too much about the trash count because it is almost assured a dps is going to face pull a pack you are trying to route around and put you over the count anyway lol. Happens 9 out of 10 times in NW.

I see, I am gonna flame dorki and yoda for lying about their rank 1 dps or multiple time mdi dps players.

yeah, but did they stay at number 1?

no.

fail.

:)))))

I moved away from tank in Cataclysm because it was too easy.

It’s a dps that can stand in fire.

My first key was a NW +2 and we had a 578ilvl tank. We timed it with 18 deaths.
It’s possible the healer just has bad internet, which is why you died and why he left.

Well, dorki was r1 dps dk when he switched to tank.
Yoda was in mdi final team before starting his tank career.
You don’t need to train level job skills after you are promoted, do you?
Dps are still begging for tanks to come to their keys. Tanks are still desginated as team leader by default.

Ahhh another perfect example of what makes the wow community the absolute worst community…

whomever keeps inssiting tanking is too easy needs to just do it. I guarantee they wont be making stupid comments like that for long.

So is the argument then that tanks should be easy to play even in hard content?

Tanking is the easiest role….sort of.

DPS needs to memorize a rotation, difficult to start with but stays the same regardless of the level of content. If you can hit your rotation you’re doing well and it doesn’t matter if it’s a +2 or a +20 you just need to keep doing that rotation exactly the same and you’re good!

Tanking doesn’t so much need to memorize a rotation….at the start. Low level stuff is really easy to tank, and gets all the easier when you get more gear. Like I’m ilvl 629 and the reality is anything below about a +9 there are a lot of places I can just ignore mechanics, defensives, etc. My stamina and just the defensive power i get from things like mastery and passives I can get through just about anything under mass pulling in those 7s/8s, below that like when I am running guildies through 4s for crests I can borderline fall asleep during the run.

But once you get significantly higher, 11s, 12s and higher, the difficulty flips. What happens if a DPS screws up their rotation? You lose some DPS, maybe some uptime. It’s a little annoying and potentially can brick a key if it’s just constant but the vast majority of the time it wont even be noticeable.

Tanks on the other hand, as the levels go up you HAVE to start being much more aggressive about pulling bigger because of the timer while at the same time if you mess up a defensive it can(and often will) instantly brick the key, even a battle res doesn’t fix things since those couple seconds can mean 2-3 deaths while you regain aggro. I’m just doing 11s right now but even with me overgearing them there are times where I know during a pull when I might accidentally hit demon spikes twice or mistime something like Fel Devastation when I already have Fiery Brand up in a situation where I need staying power and not DPS and its like…whoops alright is there a way to fix this cause in four seconds I’m going to be sitting here with no defensives up. That gets really rough and only gets worse as you get into higher and higher content.

Healers are the most difficult role, I love you all, I can’t do what you do for love or money, please keep being awesome.

I’ve avoided tanking for this reason - Not because I think it’s particularly difficult to tank dungeons, but because everyone has their own idea of the “right” way to do routes and pull packs. Not everyone is satisfied with your decisions. I have a great deal of respect for the ones that do put themselves out there for PuG groups, so on behalf of the rest of us who do appreciate you risking your neck (literally and figuratively), thank you for taking the hits!

meh, you’re mostly right but as I said earlier…all the “extra-curricular” stuff we have to deal with and do when we pug makes the role just as difficult as the others.

And dont even get me started on playing with people who pull for you and/or fail to interrupt.
