The pvper excuse for griefing has always been “just get a group (or log on your main) and fight back.”
What the pvper never understands is that we all have other things to do than spend all day playing a minigame like pvp. We are not just going to stop whatever we are doing to play with you, ESPECIALLY not when you try to force us into it.
I know giving a personal example will cause people to fixate on that example instead of the main point, but I like to leave traps for fools in my messages to expose them for trying to get out of addressing the main point. In fact, this statement is just here so I can quote it later to embarrass them.
Yesterday, a max level horde was camping inside of the venoxis area in zul’grub. Why stand in an area that is completely devoid of life? Because a main story quest in cape of stranglethorn for alliance teleports you there unphased.
Imagine being so desperate for “pvp” that you camp a raid-geared disc priest in a single room that maybe gets one person an hour during peak time.
I guess he got what he wanted after all as I sent 3 120s from my guild to camp him just so I could rez. This really is not what anyone had in mind when someone says “pvp.”
No.
The definition of PvP in this game is highly distorted and the community around it is nothing but a bunch of enabling “trolls”.
They call a 120 blasting a level 20 PvP, when it’s obviously not.
They call 20 players blasting a single player PvP, when it’s also obviously not.
The reason PvP is a toxic cesspool is the community enabling everything that’s wrong with the system.
Not PvP, but I had someone camp a spot where I was waiting for a quest NPC to respawn for an hour, at least. the clown literally just kept running around in circles so it wouldnt respawn and I could finish my quest.
Never did go back and finish it. I have a life.
Tbh, right now… yeah. Warmode is a toggle. Before then, people were still making a point of getting into PvP realms, where this kind of thing was taken as “just how things are”.
PvP realms in any MMORPG have always been about stuff like this, the only difference is that wow has factions rather than PKers with red names. The only real PvP is the instanced one, and after Warmode was introduced, people really have no one but themselves to blame for getting into these situations.
Honestly, it’d have been better without any rewards attached to warmode, but we’re what, a year too late for that?
Personally I don’t want to PVP because there is nothing I find interesting in PVP atm. The client or the engine one can’t support massive 100+ player wars. There are no objectives to really fight for except red=dead.
IMO Wow has doubled down on the worst kind of PVP there is which is “gank squads”.
While I agree that the particular horde in question was being a jerk, please do not clump all pvpers into that category. Most pvpers are not griefers who would go to those lengths just to camp someone.
As far as you not being able to rez, there is one very simple way to keep it from happening. Turn off warmode. You are here complaining about pvpers engaging you when all you want to do is carry on with your business, but Blizzard has given you the ability to not have that happen.
If you go to your main city you can open up your talents window and right beneath your PVP talents there’s a little button for “warmode.” Turn it off and it magically will port you to the safe space you desire; the bad men won’t hurt you there.
That’s too bad, I guess. The extra exp is to offset the time you spent being dead and fighting other players. If you would rather spend that time leveling, turn warmode off.
