People keep commenting that everyone is remembering Vanilla wrong, and i think i know a reason, many were using their brother/ father/ friends/ cousin’s/ wife’s/ boyfriend’s accounts who may have had add-ons, making the UI look totally different.
For example, Exclamation ! points in the minimap, a lot of people clearly remember those being there, they were never there, just a dot, however there are/were/is several addons that will show that.
People will say NO it was my game, and I did not use an addon, and to that I say.
It is spelled BERENSTEIN BEARS, damnit.
So who remembers things from the game that are different now, that others swear are the same?
I hardly left the starting zone in real vanilla ( I was playing Matrix Online, IMO the best MMORPG ever to resist Emu).
I am old af… my memory is sh_t… I don’t remember all the little idiosyncrasies from vanilla… I just remember small pockets of memories…
I remember when I first started playing, I didn’t know there was more to the world than mulgore, I got to like lvl 10 just killing creatures in mulgore, lol
I also remember watching in awe as an undead rode into mulgore, and he saw me at lvl 10 still there… and asked me why I was still here, I didn’t know what he meant, then he opened trade and gave me 5g and I remember thinking he must be the richest person in this whole game…
then he showed me the exit to mulgore, and I remember looking over the MASSIVE expanse of the barrens with my jaw on the floor.
I remember the AWE I felt at seeing Ragnaros emerge for the first time…
I remember, the HELL of trying to tank the bugs in the gauntlet in AQ having to stance dance to battle for thunderclap and getting SMASHED by the bugs while desperately trying to keep aggro on all these bugs.(we did the run to the end strategy)
but then I also remember the ELATION I felt when my guild got me my thunderfury, and we went into UBRS after I received it to test it, and we were not prepared for how big the proc was on it, and pulling WAYY too much and laughing our asses off the whole time.
I don’t remember a lot of thing’s but the things I do… I cherish
