Make your own group.
Don’t apply to groups and then say the WoW community is awful if you get declined. Create your own group and move on with your life.
As a neutral party that simply doesn’t join groups, I tell you this fair and square:
No one is obligated to accept anyone in their groups. But no one is obligated not to find the community awful for that.
That is true but they should get rid of Raider i.o and make it a community learning experience instead of hand pick selection. Classic Wow was like this and it thrived.
Name/guild/post count checks out.
You’re the kind of player with a 360 ilvl who makes groups requiring 400, aren’t you.
You realize in classic people would force-item-check in town before bringing you to anything challenging, right? If you take away RIO you simply would revert players to other methods. You-will-never-stop-players-from-gear-or-skill-checking. Stop this nonsense. It has never been this hand-holding lovers market of players that some of you pretend.
you still got inspected and looked at and judged based on your gear in classic there will always be a metric for player skill back in those days you could tell by gear if someone was able to complete a dungeon. Back in wrath it was gear score, now its raider io, There will always be some sort of way people decide who they want in in “THEIR” group if you dont like that make your own.
Doesn’t matter, got loot.
Im not entirely sure this needed a thread. Will wait to see where it goes.
That’s some strong rose tint on those goggles. Before RIO, it was gear score.
Silence tank, smgdh.
I mean the very concept of this thread is contrarian. Let’s face it, that’s why half of us clicked on it.
Unfortunately, there are more bad players than good players in World of Warcraft. But the bad players want to do harder content, so they join groups but end up making enough mistakes that the group can’t succeed. And this is why we need a metric to judge people. A way to qualify what they are capable of. With how easy ilvl is to obtain now, inspecting people won’t lead to anything, so we need a value or a score or some way to determine how well people perform.
Or, join a group. My IO score is low because I do runs with my group. I don’t care about my score at all.
I think it’s something like this:
Not true, since people cant’t transmog they can discriminate at a glance on who put in effort and who did not. WHOEVEr, Raider I.0 tells you how many time a person have ran it versus some one that ran it.
THAT is too specific and help people only pick the veterans and not the newbs. So two guys geared exactly the same could have been a toss up with no Raider I.O. However with Raider I.O, they were able to see that Guy 1 ran M 10-15 100 times and Guy 2 ran it 14 times. Naturally you pick guy one, anyone would. Even if people on here try to say “Oh yeah I’ll take lower Raider I.O in my group.”
They are lying.
Its like an interview i saw in Canada, everyone was all for taking in more refugees from the EU. ANd on paper say OF COURSE they would take one. However, when it came time to put up or shut up and confronted with the choice “SOrry, dont’ have room or space” Or “Maybe next time good luck though!”
So unless you have photo evidence of saying you would take someone with a lower RAider i.o score or no I.o score at all, I call bullcrap. ALso friends and guildmates don’t count. It has to be random pug strangers.
Take away raider I.o and everyone have to choose blindly on WHO i best.
So what you’re saying is in Classic, people checked your gear before letting you into the group.
Which is what he said.
And you know, completely dismissed your own point that Classic was some how this happy fun golden age of pugging.
Well contrarian doesnt really matter, but if someone makes a thread about not getting accepted wouldnt it be better to use the very sparse OP as a response rather than dedicate a whole thread to it? Just some random thoughts.
I mean I agree with the OP and all, but I dont know if this will encourage any sort of good discussion.
Well, that’s not the only issue. I find low-score-players are also the biggest blame-game offenders. That’s not something I see a lot in the higher keys/score groups. We are, for the most part, more self-reflective and figure-it-out; and cop up to our own mistakes.
There’s a reason low score players get stuck at low score. They’re unable to change/adapt and just blame everyone else for their failings.
But they wouldn’t know if someone is a battle harden veteran or new guy by looks alone. Raider I.O changed that.
Don’t want to get rejected from groups? Don’t pug. Join a guild. It’s infinitely better than pugging.
Little story. Last night I applied to 8 M+ runs before I got accepted to a +4. Group was solid and we almost got to the first boss when the healer just went afk. No reason nothing was said just up and vanished like a fart in the wind. So I accomplished NOTHING last night except wasting my time.
Now back in Legion here’s what happened “hey ryuk wanna do a +15?” “sure” and we completed the dungeon.
The lesson here is pugging SUCKS.
