Definitely not feeling the big MMO energy with DF, so far as player numbers.
I came back over from New World, where you could have hundreds of players on the screen at one time zerging through multiple world tour zones together. It got laggy at times, but it still felt like a big MMO.
I guess Blizzard is afraid of desyncing with the servers? Maybe the speed of dragonflying causes load-in issues in DF with other players? I have been disconnected mid-air sometimes in this game the past week.
Who knows…

I know on stormrage alliance tons of folks in the world at least here.
Same question and no answer
Has to be. There were a bazillion people in the Barrens. The first zeppelin digitally crashed. The second ones disembarks with a bazillion people.
I then begin that walk up the first hill with about 50 people.
And I then begin questing… by myself. Utterly.
I played for abbbbbooouttt five hours on launch night. I got to lv66, about half-way through the Plains. And in all that time, I think I saw 5 people. MAYYYYYYBE five.
Sharding is the only answer because we all know there were a BIggilligan people on during launch, most racing to 70.
I’m glad it helped with stability, but it really ruined the reason why I play MMOs. I would have been happier in Vanilla, when tagging was a thing and being around a bunch of people was actually made the game worse. But now that tagging is open, you really feel that playing with other people HELPS you!
And it certainly does. The people in my guild that grouped up were 69 when I was 66. All those “kill 8 of this” and “kill 12 of that”… those quests basically INSTA-COMPLETE when you’re in a group! But when hard-sharded to be alone, you HAVE to kill all 8, you HAVE to kill all 12.
Sharding helped, but it was a little too aggressive.

Yea definitely sharding. To the extreme…day 1 lots of people waiting for the boat. Going to DF get to dragon continent. And maybe see a couple of people here and there leveling… and a few people in the main city… see more people in oribis. Than I do in the new hub
Proudmoor, Monday afternoon: finally boarded the boat to Dragon Isles, and it was was basically a wild party wagon.
Got to the Dragon Isles, load screen, and I was alone getting off at the dock, lol.
Only ever saw like a dozen players total, til I hit 70. Was weird.

I agree, you dont see a bunch of people randomly out in the world…but if you show up to a tuskgar soup event you’ll see enough people to make your computer lag

It could be just me but i don’t see a whole lot of WQ out there, i know this is intended, but there just isn’t a lot of level capped activities right now so maybe people are hitting 70 and taking a break, or perhaps sticking to dungeons only?
I almost put in a ticket and it came back with 30 day response. MG should be nuts. Instead, it’s like a Sunday morning during peak play hours.
I noticed that apart from myself who is still in the first zone smelling the flowers, taking in sights and quests everyone is 70 and looking bored waiting in Valdraxxen for queues.

I did the Soup event when I was leveling and there were maybe 10 ppl there? (everyone was racing to 70)
I just went back last night… and like you said, probably 300 people there! lol
We filled the Legendary bar … omg… at LEAST 9 times!!! Actually, while it’s new like this, it’s kind of a hack to get Tuskarr rep since every time you fill the Legendary bar, it spawns an elite mob and gives 25 rep.
That’s a trivial amount in any normal capacity, but it’s currently NOT normal! lol That’s 200 rep each time. And it’s every 3 hours?? I might watch this closer.

WoWhead has a tracker on their front page.
Although the areas have not been super crowded, I found myself running across a lot of people while questing and the best thing about Alliance/Horde not graying out mobs for each other is that a lot of my questing was done with opposite faction players.
It’s been great because no talking was involved. Just emotes of /wave and /thanks and then we go on our ways.

I mean. What realm are you on? Where I live, the time you posted was still basically the middle of the night.
/who hasn’t been displaying the correct number of players for over 2 years now, unless it got fixed recently.
It’s been a lot longer than that.
/who is only capable of showing 50 players at once

They want people to solo their questing, to prove they deserve their xp. When they want you to group up they will make you group up. If you group up at other times you can find your party inexplicably separated into phases where each must solo some boss mob.
Rarely see anyone.
When DF launched there were 3 people in Org including me.
Only saw others at Zep tower and then after zep trip they all disappeared.
So when the player pile was highest, is when the servers crashed apparently.
Diablo 4 is the same, you’ll hardly see anyone out in the open world.
I don’t think I have been the only one doing a quest yet. Not sure what server you are on, but it could be extreme sharding due to server issues.
And this. Been this way forever.
Well proudmoore is so lonely right now in world but there are many peoples in val which basically be or not to be doesnt matter
