No new players in World of Warcraft…it’s so tiring

Why do I keep hearing this same old and annoying story over and over again on the forums? And still no actual numbers or data to back up that claim that there isn’t any new players in World of Warcraft.

Does the forums actually care about wanting new players or just acting like they care or want new players to come to World of Warcraft? When in fact they’re the ones who loves to gate keep the game from having ever more accessibility features, quality of life changes and they are the ones that’s against simplifying the game.

And still no actual numbers or data to back up the claim that this game has bajillions of new players. Awful convenient that they stopped posting their numbers back in WoD lmao

Almost as if they were ashamed to show how many people been leaving over these past several years.

It would have made bad business sense to be the only major MMO in the world posting numbers.

FFXIV doesnt. ESO doesnt. No one does.

We know why none of them do not do it though.

Except for a few people in denial.

The MMORPG genre is a dying breed, until something new manages to grip the world.

I’m on a small population realm, the only thing you need to do is head to the starting zone and watch as new players enter even with connection to other zones ,count how many are there then haed to the main hub count that you’ll get rough @ of how many new players come to the game. On mine, not much.

The reason is the cyclical nature of content cycles, how sensitive people are to any population decline, and how that would all be used against them.

“OMG SOANDSO MMO dropped 20%! THISOTHER MMO IS BETTER! THEY ROSE 20%!”

Ignoring the context that one may be at the end of a content cycle, the other just started.

This is an old af game now. People just come and go, knowing that it will likely still be around, still getting updated.

Not that I disagree with that.
It is also because the numbers have been dropping fast.
I believe WoW is probably the only MMORPG that have had an insane drop from its past numbers - and to advertise that would be effectively dooming for the reason you stated.

Other MMORPGs have always remained in the lower numbers, compared to WoW, and the drop offs have probably not been as rapid.

it’s sad, I go there to give new player on my realm a new bag.and there is no one there :pensive:

Well, no other MMO had the insane high either. So it would be a victim of its own success.

Now the MMO landscape is pretty normalized. Things are pretty even. No one is having any giant spike in playerbase.

No one wants to give anyone else the advantage of the fickle player base not being smart enough to acknowledge what the ebb and flow of sub numbers means.

Well…for starters, some people, not naming names, keep creating new threads on the topic.

Indeed, as mentioned, it is a dying breed. My theory is that all MMORPGs are slowly bleeding playerbases. It is not exclusive to WoW.

The current, popular formula is tiring and boring. Innovation is needed, and once we get some ideas thrown out that works well together, the MMORPG genre can probably be revived again, and we repeat the mill.

How many “Why doesn’t everyone worship this game as much as I do”-threads do we need? It’s getting kinda annoying…

I really enjoy the constant cycle of new alts rolling through doing this every few months.

New players aren’t coming to WoW as the new player experience is bad.

Going forward WoW needs to start new players in a revamped Exile’s Reach (that actually gives boots) and then send them directly to the Dragon Isles.

Revamp Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms to be post Dragonflight.

And you’re right.

WoW needs to be simplified more. Cut down abilities/button bloat as well as Debuffs, cc, and the such.

BM Hunter and Ret Paladin are so popular because they aren’t complicated.

If I were starting now, I’m fairly certain my time would be very short. I can’t imagine my first dungeon experience being a break neck TW dungeon.

That’s on Blizzard for allowing the M+ mentality to seep into the leveling experience for dungeons.

??

You do know alts exist right? Or people that reroll?

Not saying there aren’t new players though.

(Or did I miss sarcasm?)

New starting zones ? I treat them as new player till i find them not to be.

Is that wrong? or do I not get the sarcasm since it is Sunday.

It looked bad so they had to.
