Why do I keep hearing this same old and annoying story over and over again on the forums? And still no actual numbers or data to back up that claim that there isn’t any new players in World of Warcraft.
Does the forums actually care about wanting new players or just acting like they care or want new players to come to World of Warcraft? When in fact they’re the ones who loves to gate keep the game from having ever more accessibility features, quality of life changes and they are the ones that’s against simplifying the game.
And still no actual numbers or data to back up the claim that this game has bajillions of new players. Awful convenient that they stopped posting their numbers back in WoD lmao
Almost as if they were ashamed to show how many people been leaving over these past several years.
I’m on a small population realm, the only thing you need to do is head to the starting zone and watch as new players enter even with connection to other zones ,count how many are there then haed to the main hub count that you’ll get rough @ of how many new players come to the game. On mine, not much.
Not that I disagree with that.
It is also because the numbers have been dropping fast.
I believe WoW is probably the only MMORPG that have had an insane drop from its past numbers - and to advertise that would be effectively dooming for the reason you stated.
Other MMORPGs have always remained in the lower numbers, compared to WoW, and the drop offs have probably not been as rapid.
Well, no other MMO had the insane high either. So it would be a victim of its own success.
Now the MMO landscape is pretty normalized. Things are pretty even. No one is having any giant spike in playerbase.
No one wants to give anyone else the advantage of the fickle player base not being smart enough to acknowledge what the ebb and flow of sub numbers means.
Indeed, as mentioned, it is a dying breed. My theory is that all MMORPGs are slowly bleeding playerbases. It is not exclusive to WoW.
The current, popular formula is tiring and boring. Innovation is needed, and once we get some ideas thrown out that works well together, the MMORPG genre can probably be revived again, and we repeat the mill.
