Brand new way to doing Arch Digs and you have us stuck at one dig site now…wow…didn’t put much thought into this now to only have one dig site. You expect folks to keep doing digs over and over every week at the same place…
Would doing tasks at a giant skeleton in slightly different scenery fundamentally change this event for you?
Yes it would …it would show they put some meaningful work in new thing they put to the game…
Alrighty then lol
by having the same thing in a different spot?
I mean… Soup didn’t move around. And this is basically Soup with added digging piles. Time Rifts didn’t move either.
There was never any indication that it would move
Nine expansions say hi.
Isn’t there an achievement to dig at the different dig sites or was I dreaming?
At least with old Archaeology you got to dig in different zones and islands…not the bloody same spot day in day out…the cooking was centered around Tuskaars that I can see staying in one spot…but past history with Arch means you look all over…
The WQ’s seem to cycle between 4 different locations at least. Just not the weekly quest…which as has been pointed out, is no different than the soup.
This isnt archeology, its just an small event.
This isn’t archeology though.
Actually, I think it’s sort of a “beta test” for a new version of archaeology that will come with TWW. They’re using this to see what works, what doesn’t, what people like, and what they don’t.
Yes it is…your digging for the past…your digging up stuff to look at…seem quite like archaeology to me…
But it’s not the archeology profession, don’t be obtuse. You know what I meant.
Yes it is…they just don’t call it archaeology…its same damn thing dig up stuff from the past…
Wild, I didn’t see any profession skill increases while doing Archive stuff.
Maybe mine is bugged.
Is this the new archaeology, or the beginning of it, perhaps?
Obviously they aren’t calling it that, and most folks think archaeology will come back as a profession. However, world events players can opt in and out of might be a lot easier to maintain long term.
So then yes - absolutely - there should be multiple dig sites.
Each site should have a clear goal and a reward at the end for all participants - a transmog, or a mount, a toy, which is thematically connected to the dig site location or lore, and separate from the items bought with currency.
The dig site should change monthly or every two months and span all of the world of warcraft landmasses.
The digs should vary between ruins, fossils, battlefields, and artifacts.
The world quests should be near the dig site, or a precursor to the next dig site. The weekly and hourly stuff happening now is fine as-is, for earning currency and you know, actually excavating the dirt.
Over the month or two each dig site is active, the scene should change with phasing to show our progress.
Dig sites could tell new stories, maybe have cinematics now and then, reveal previously unknown Warcraft lore.
It should even be possible for the dig to not be completed, and there be no reward, if enough players don’t participate or the financing goals are not met. This will tell Blizzard how much to continue investing in creating new dig sites.
I sort of like this new feature, see the potential, and hope it becomes something more. I liked archaeology, despite the tedium. I think Azerothian Archives is, perhaps, part of a larger system to come and I think we’re beta testing it.
