No new connected realms for dragonflight?

Dragonflight prepatch soon and still no talk of connecting the dead realms?

Whats up blizz?

Might as well just delete Draenor/Echo Isles, it’s the deadest of them all now.

Pretty sure they don’t want to because admitting there are dead realms leads to more talk of the game dying. Guess they’d rather let some customers suffer than put that blood in the water.

Literally just do what RuneScape does and allow us to play on any server any time we want. I do NOT get why servers are still a thing. Just end it already!!!

In the last round of realm connections, there were documented horror stories of charcters disappearing, reappearing as they were 10 years ago, copies of the same character at the login screen from different points of their existence, etc.

Google “my wow account got destroyed” for one example.

But yeah, those realm connections were pretty screwed up and Blizzard’s been gunshy ever since.

All connecting dead realms will do is combine fifteen dead servers instead of five dead servers.

If you aren’t on Illidan, Area 52, Tichondrius, Mal’ganis, Stormrage, Sargeras, Thrall, or Frostmourne (OCE), or MAYBE a small handful of other servers like those, you aren’t even playing the game anymore.

Also, I recall the last round of realm merges causing some very, very, very bad problems. I think it was US-Dalaran?

Those realms comes with big risk. So yea I prefer to be in a connected realm than just join a full server that one day I won’t be able to log in.

Also, they connected some realms one month ago.

they are moving towards mega servers anyways so it doesnt matter what server you are on you can join a guild on any server without transferring

Just seems really dumb to not address this before a big expansion. Not even sure I will buy dragonflight if this isnt even discussed.

the WoW engine might not work that way.

Whats up blizz? plans?

Nah. That’s MMORPG suicide.

I’m watching closely the connected realm situation, because I have a goal to be on every single realm and this means if I use the few slots I have left and then that realm gets connected with one I already have it would mean wasting a slot, when I could’ve been on a realm that doesn’t get connected instead, and it’s kinda unpredictable what they will connect with what, the only thing I can say is: the first connection round was in 2013-2014 and the 2nd round was in 2020, so if they follow this pattern seems unlikely before 2026, and absolutely impossible that it happens the first few months of an expansion, since there are already a lot of people returning.

The mop connection round was early during timeless isle, the last patch of the expansion, and the shorter bfa connection round was around the last quarter of the expansion.

Which ones? Is there a link?

Thanks, but I think most (all?) of those are old. I was hoping there was a list of new connections like one of these announcement posts from 2020: Realm Connections -- September 17-18

Either way, none of my realms have new connections.

I mean it’s still pretty recent 2020 was just 2 years ago

The last round of connections was in September 2020, in the batch that destroyed some accounts.

Blizzard hasn’t attempted any connections since. (Go figure.)

It was 2 years ago it wasn’t that long ago.

(That video is outdated 120 was BFA era)
