Blizzcon is here, and yesterday really seems to have stirred up a lot of emotions this year. I'm on the WoW forums, so I really don't want to get into the whole Diablo thing. What I want to talk about is how no information on new or future Allied Races for this expansion is really disappointing for me.
I was pleased to see the little extra surprise for Zandalari Troll Paladins. I'm sure a lot of players are relieved at that option. Kudos and congrats!
When information started pouring out about 8.2 and 8.2.5, I was immediately at the edge of my chair. It all looks so cool! I'm really excited to delve into the new stuff to come there. What shocked me was the lack of information on any new AR for that part of the expansion.
We were told some time ago that ARs were one of the major features of this expansion. They don't want to set a precedence that there are new races for every patch, but this expansion is the exception to that. There is a massive war going on, and both sides were to be recruiting hard to sway things in their favor.
I'm normally an optimistic person, but when the panel ended and we had no new information, my heart sank. Mostly, I am trying to remain positive that we will hear something closer to PTR release or something along those lines. However, it's hard to feel that way when it seems like a prime opportunity to reveal such information was passed over. Now I sit and doubt that we will see any more ARs before the final leg of the expansion.
There are so many desired options out there, and already so much work done that I was sure we'd hear something! Vulpera, for example, are already so far along, it bothers me that they really could be just an overly-worked on NPC race. It wouldn't be so bad if other NPC races were given as much customization options as they were. Sethrak look so cool, they would really liven things up on the Alliance side.
Anyway, I'm just really bummed. I'm trying to remain positive, but it just seems like an empty space that should have been filled with the panels shown. It wasn't and I worry KT and Zands are it for BfA.
we got 5 new races in 13 years. now 6 in 9 months isn't enough...
edit and that doesn't include the 2 coming up.

I wouldn't be saying anything if they hadn't made it clear that Allied Races were a major part of the expansion. I suppose 4 thus far is a good number, but we got 4 in Legion, even if it was at the end.
Maybe it was my fault for taking what they said as meaning we would see more ARs based around the current expansion we are playing, because of the theme that BfA has.

The four from Legion was still a BFA feature, it was early access to unlock them if you preordered BFA.

But all of the races were from Legion. We aren't recruiting anyone we've just met in BfA. Doesn't that seem silly?

no
the races were released 6 months before BFA as part of the early access for preordering....you still needed BFA. Also, 4 of the 6(8) are linked to Legion, not all of them.

Bfa release date was when? Oh, kthxbye. and yeah no new allied race announcement is bad, because if we're only going to get a couple per expansion and they're basically re-skins that should've been customization options instead of an entire new race? No thanks.
All I really care about right now is playing a Vulpera char. I want to see them implemented asap
I was kinda disappointed as well that there was no hints or mentions of new Allied Races.
When they first introduced the concept, they kept touting how this new system made it like 3x? easier for them to make a new playable race (even if they've mostly just been reskins).
Blizzard usually goes kinda... Whole Hog... (•_•) ( •_•)>⌐■-■ (⌐■_■)... whenever they introduce a new feature.

What OP is trying to say is that we were told ARs were a key feature to BFA. Yet they did not introduce plans for new ones at blizzcon, even when it was implied new ones were being implemented as it goes along (yes I realize they are implementing kultirans and zandalari as we speak. But we already knew they were coming)
Iam all for the ARs to be put on hold for improving the rest of BFA but we were told they would be rolled out regularly... and it wasn’t mentioned.
PS: I have a theory that brand new ARs were not talked about or introduced be cause of how controversial they are. Also they wanted to present 8.1.5 content and 8.2 content without being drowned in AR controversy.
I get the feeling Blizzard wants to hold off on information about new Allied Races in a less potentially hostile medium.
Vulpera are pretty much set to go if we're honest, but we know there are a number of Horde players who don't want them on the Horde for one reason for another.
Junker Gnomes are slowly growing into more of a possibility, but it's another Alliance Allied Race no one on the Alliance really asked for, and the Alliance is already highly unsatisfied with it's existing Allied Races (with the exception of Dark Iron Dwarves).
My guess is, if it's not these two next, it's another pair that'd evoke some controversy, and Blizzard would rather deal with that online than in person.

What seems more silly to me is someone complaining about a lack of new races when we’ve had more new races added in the last 9 months than we’ve had added in the total lifetime of WoW
remember when we only got 2 new races every other xpac??
though the fact that in order to unlock them you needed legion rep requirements.11/04/2018 04:10 AMPosted by Ikethespike11/03/2018 01:22 PMPosted by Windsocks...

they dont need to be announced on blizzcon in order to release new ones .. if they do they will probably do so next blizcon after a year for final ones for the expansion I'm assuming11/04/2018 08:44 AMPosted by Tyrandia11/03/2018 12:55 PMPosted by Ikethespikewe got 5 new races in 13 years. now 6 in 9 months isn't enough...

From the Blizzcon interview.
Wowhead: Do you have more plans for Allied Races after Zandalari and Kul Tiras?
Shani: It's something we've definitely talked about, but there's no plans to share what the next bunch will be but there are some that are coming later on.
Morgan: With Allied races, it's always really exciting to see what players get kicked up about but it's also about where is the story taking us and what makes sense at the point in time when we're exploring these things.
So if they actually make sense in the lore then they will figure out if they can make them work in game. They also stated what made bold.
So yes it was addressed. Not to satisfaction as usual but it was talked about.

Likely the new mechagnomes are actually an AR, but they're just waiting for things to calm down before they make it official. Probably not an AR that "hardcore" fans/gamers would gravitate towards, TBH.
Maybe they are busy making heritage armor for Vanilla races.
