No Mounts in the Maw?

At least, that’s the current plan, according to one interview.

Currently the plan is to not allow mounts at all in the Maw , it will be an entire zone on foot so it feels more dangerous. While regular mounts might eventually get introduced, flying will probably never become available. The zone is large so there might be lots of flights paths in there. If they do allow mounts, it will somehow play into the Eye of the Jailer mechanic.

It better be a small zone or have some movement increasing option, I ain’t walking for 10 minutes. If I wanted to be bored out of my mind with that I will play Trasshic

I couldn’t find a thread on it, and I was frankly shocked it wasn’t being discussed.

What it is, I think, is time spent.

Reduce your speed, spend more time, slower character progression, keeps people logged in for longer, or at least I think that’s the idea.

But if people get bored, stop doing content, then Blizz will reevaluate what needs to be done.

Of course this is just a blanket statement. I don’t know what is all going to be involved. Considering that a number of characters have built-in temporary speed mechanics, mages with blink, warlocks with burning rush, hunters with aspect of the cheetah, shaman ghost wolf, warrior heroic leap, and so on, I’m pretty sure people will get creative with travel and trying to avoid trash mobs.

Heck, it might turn into a game of parkour for some. That might give Blizz incentive to hide things for incredibly skilled players to find.

I think it sounds fun, I just hope it’s not like Nazjatar, I did not enjoy how that area was laid out At all before flying. Beautiful place though and the music was awesome!

Just something to artificially slow us down and for them to remove later and say it is a quality of life enhancement/catchup mechanic.

I was thinking maybe we would have movement buffs in it, maybe like the jumpy buff in Nazjatar

Take something away…
Only to give it back and expect a pat on the back for it…

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: Alright, well, looks like I don’t have to ever worry about going to do anything in the Maw. UNLESS the zone is the size of an acorn.

But didn’t Ion say in the live stream that there won’t be flight paths because nothing wants you there?

I didn’t.

Yeah I was trying to think of a small zone that would be an acceptable size to walk from one side of it to the other, I thought of timeless isle but pfft I wouldn’t want to walk that lol.

Meh.

I think it’s fantastic with no mounts - that keeps the danger of the zone going, and I love it.

I’m morbidly excited for this because I want to see how it goes lol

It sounds interesting! It does add to the danger, can’t cheese past things on a mount. Combined with the Jailer’s Eye, no sanctuaries and death stygia loss it’s shaping up to be the most hostile of zones so far. Really have to think about what you’re doing.

I can already sense the salt that’s going to cause.

The more I hear about shadowlands, the more I feel like I’m going to take a break after the first month or two.

I want to see how many of the people who think this is a great idea still think that six months into the expac.

Honestly, this sounds fun to me. I get why other people don’t like it, but I like the sound of it.
