No more WeakAuras, DBM, Hekili? DETAILS?

So came across this yt vid yesterday…am I late to the party on this? Is that why no one’s talking about it? Apparently Nnoggle from Method and dev @ wago-dot-io figured out the main add-ons that Blizz will be blocking and this guy Medieval Marty made a video about it:

(Sorry, I’m apparently not mature enough to post YouTube links here. Go search Medieval Marty WoW)

No more WeakAuras? No more Hekili or Details?? Deadly Boss Mods and Big Wigs, gone??

What’s this game going to look like with this massive fundamental change to gameplay? It says Blizz will introduce replacements for all of it…but do we really trust them to do it right?

It’s been talked about quite a lot, including myself. I’ve been told that these add-ons aren’t going away but Blizzard is attempting to make efforts for the game to be more accessible without these add-ons.

No.

They are not getting rid of your add-ons.

Stop listening to click bait and follow the actual announcements.

Edit (adding more details): The developers want to reduce complexity without reducing difficulty. There are some add-ons that feel required even though they’re not. The developers want to reduce barriers to entry by building more features into the base UI.

They expect that to reach their goals they will need to disable some features available to add-ons today. That would limit some capabilities of popular add-ons if or when it happens.

So they are also planning to add their own versions of some of these tools.

They are not banning WeakAuras. The changes might limit the capabilities of the add-on, but the add-on could and almost certainly will still exist.

They have not really detailed what limitations might be added. There is no timeline for when this will happen.

No you shouldn’t trust Blizzard to do it properly. You also shouldn’t trust Blizzard to actually do it at all. I won’t be shocked if this whole thing turns out to never happen.

Yuh.

Potentially.

I mean the only real concern is teammate cds. Fights becoming less complicated and not being able to see enemy cds in pvp so there’s half as many thing sot track is gonna be an awesome change.

You are so late to the party you dont realize what you are saying is categorically false.

Maybe its a good thing you couldnt post the video.

You made one of the daily dozen threads we get about this topic.

No offense y’all, but I’ll take the words of a wago dev with a little more weight…

“I’m not sure if people realize how massive of a change the upcomming AddOn / API restrictions is going to be. Out of the top 15 most downloaded AddOns on [addons dot wago dot io] 10 (!!!) are going to be completely dead or heavily affected. Biggest change to the game ever.

From what they have stated publicly i think it’s safe to assume that access to the ingame combat log events will not be possible for AddOns anymore. Details currently relies on those events to tracks every single damage event that happens and then shows that data to the user.”

Sounds pretty real to me.

Then why post here in the first place

I’m saying we should take what he’s saying a little more seriously.

These changes are going to take years to develop and implement and knowing Blizzard the entire philosophy could change during that time. Everyone overreacting right now is just doing it for clicks or rage bait.

Just so you feel at ease there seems to be a lot of backlash against this idea. There’s no doubt in my mind Blizzard is reconsidering any hardcore restrictions because it means even more work for them, and upsetting a very dedicated community.

Yes, and it’s overreaction at its finest.

Folks are acting like this will be implemented tomorrow, calm down.

Based.

Is it the actual WoW webcast one?

If not, I recommend watching that one.

There’s no way to have solid information on something like this. They haven’t even started encounter changes, etc to even begin blocking addons.

Disliking WA… Saying “based” unironically in 2025. :grimacing:

They are going away. They are planning on restricting the API that gives them information. No official date yes but speculation believes the start of the next expansion will be when it starts.

I actually did, about 45 min after it was released on YT. Nothing I heard in that interview discounts what Nnoggie said on Twitter 2 days ago.

Nowhere in the Blizz interview did they state specific addons are going to be blocked. Especially when the video stated it’s going to take time and they may have to limit some of them.

So you watched a video a month ago where they talked about it, but then apparently just found out yesterday about it? Do you have memory loss or something? Or since it’s Sunday are you making this post to shamelessly glaze whatever content creator you mentioned that nobody in this thread cares enough about to look up?
