No more new classes

Hear me out.

Back in mists of pandaria Druids were introduced with their new (not new) spec the guardian which allowed them to have all roles which gave them four specs.

Instead of a new class every other expansion why not just introduce a new spec to an existing class.

For example. Mages have frost, fire, arcane.

Dalaran outcasted and banned necromancy. I know it would be to much identical to the warlock. But it could be designed in a way that it wouldnt step on warlocks or death knights toes. Or do a battle mage type spec where we melee.

Hunters could have gunslinger. Or ranger that could be a support spec that uses traps and poisons to debuff the target.
Paladins could have cleric that acts as a support or change it into the true healer spec and make holy into a support that buffs the party using auras.

There are ways to to design a fourth spec for the other classes instead of giving us another class.

Stop using your brain, we don’t do that here.

Cool idea, into it.

Haven’t played shadow since the whole void nonsense rework which shakes my faith in their ability to actually pull it off.

Outlaw rogue

So unholy death knight

So survival hunter

So priests (not shadow priest)

I know. I was just thinking about that.

Outlaw was designed as a pirate that uses a pistol. Unholy is just a survival hunter with a pet.

There’s still plenty of people hanging out for shaman tank based around earth magic.

Thats what im saying it can be done. So as not to step on other specs toes

It really couldn’t.

I don’t want new classes for the same reason I don’t want new specs, the existing specs could be designed better.

Disagreed.

As long as there is fantasies not fulfilled, there is always a want and need for new classes.

Fair enough, there is also possiblities to expand on current classes to make them feel new again yet have that familiar feel to it.

This I agree.

Earth shaman tanks.
Dual weild paladins based on crazed zeal.
Shadow focused death knights (dw spec plz!)
And more for sure.

I completely disagree. Most classes are overspecced now.

I’m more in favor of new classes. But these classes need class depth and a historical connection.
And not just 2 hours in a small backstory, the whole add on must be raised throughout first, so that the class gets traction.

I prefer to start from level 1, but then the whole WoW world would have to be connected with each class and have a common thread here. That’s a bit much effort.

But no new class? WoW is so so anemic, without new classes, you have almost no reason to buy an add on anymore, which at its core, one way or another, constantly serves the same nonsense that torches all RPG content and makes it irrelevant.

With a new class, you at least have a little bit of content to grow into as an RPGer.
Unfortunately, thanks to the comparative combat, there is a lack of profundity in the classes. That can’t be made possible, because depth and thus completely different play styles can’t be combined with balancing.
A real MMORPG has only rudimentary balancing in the 5 class cores Tank, DD, Healer, Support, CC and that these complement each other accordingly and alone are not all-rounders, but specialized, but with serious weaknesses, but enormous class depth and individualization through skill.

But that only works with real role-playing games, and absolutely not with these sports games that you can call end-game games.

*No, more new classes.

FTFY

If Blizz added the new survival to hunters as a fourth spec and left the old survival alone I would say sure to a degree, but Blizz burned that bridge down. I want old survival back plus the new survival as a fourth spec and I want a dual wielding throwing spec so I can make my troll axe thrower. Guess four specs aren’t going to cut it for me.

I still want a Turret/Tinkerer and a Necromancer class. If they could somehow add those as specs to one of the current classes WITHOUT stealing skills/spells from a current class like DH did, then we might be able to find a middle ground.

Long answer is they can’t stop adding classes. If they keep adding to the current specs they will have to reorganize them into base classes and put some of what we currently have into one of those groups otherwise it is just going to muddy the waters worse then if they just added in a new class.

But hey, I’ve seen Blizz do some things I never would have thought possible. They even destroyed the once great and FUN WoW and made it more of a not so fun e-sport. So only Blizz knows or doesn’t know, lol, if they can or not.

To each their own.

New classes will always be needed because new or returning players will be needed.

A new class will get people to resubscribe, a new Paladin spec will not.

I mean, new specs for everyone is a lot more work.

That’s 13-14 new specs vs 2 for the Argonians.

Small indie company.

But I’d backstab for a Rogue tank spec.

Ripping feral in half was the biggest nerf to any class in the history of the game.

Ones I want to see

Blood mage
Dark ranger for rogue
Earth based shaman
Holy caster DPS for paladin

I’d love to see a ranged DPS spec for DH.
Glaive Toss, use inquisitor eyes for eyebeam (place eye somewhere and it auto-beams the target and everything within 5-8 yards in a line x yards long), fel bolts.
