No more myth transmog appearances from heroic upgrades in Midnight

Gotta remember to take that step backward when taking two forward.

Blizzard is like the Jinn. They grant you your wish but it always comes with grave misfortune

I just thought it would make more sense to quote the actual pertinent section than linking.

Don’t take it personally I was more just cracking a joke I have a pretty snide sense of humor

  1. The link goes directly to the relevant section.
  2. The person I was responding to wasn’t sure it was real and didn’t recall seeing an official Blizzard response on the topic, so I linked the source which, again, goes directly to the Items section of the notes.
  3. Who are you and who asked you? Mind your own business.

Thankfully I know how to ignore private profiles.

Lol good riddance, bye

I don’t expect anything until at least end of alpha and into beta. I’d be happy to be wrong. This is assuming they don’t have something else cooking for everyone other than Mythic raiders either in response to this change.

Not good communication if they had something in the kitchen to make up for it. Good chance they are seeing backlash from this thread alone and saying, ‘we need a new plan’ assuming they see the writing on the wall.

I would imagine if the devs would reply to anything right now it would be more information about the addons/api changes.

This isn’t going to change the 1% of people that actually run and clear mythic raids if this is them trying to get more people playing that content it’s not going to happen especially with them removing combat addons lol.

I just found this other thread

Maybe we jumped the gun? maybe cooks in the kitchen after all?

Much still remains to be seen, granted, but I’ll still err on the side of displeasure of the change to upgrades.

This has Ion written all over it.

I dont see how more catalyst charges really helps with the issue at hand tbh. It definitely helps with having to save for the best piece you can get. So that’s a positive change there to that friction they spoke about.

But it doesn’t alleviate the whole “delvers can no longer access all PVE color tints.”

I’d rather keep the current system vs a system where we no longer have the ability to upgrade and get all tints. There was some annoyance to the current system for sure. Banking up all the vet and champ gear to catalyze the next season for lower tints was annoying, going “welp I wish I could catalyze this vet shoulder but I gotta wait and see if I get higher level in the vault this week first” so you don’t waste charges was annoying. But I’d keep all that annoying stuff if that’s what we needed to keep filling out our mog sets if the alternative is a smoother system but capped at heroic colors.

I don’t disagree, but may suggest that things are happening in the back we aren’t aware of?

As I stated, as it stands I dislike this change but keeping my eyes open for the real endgame here. That’s really something that hasn’t been state yet. Why this change?

They initially said that it was to preserve the artwork of difficult content. So I think that was their initial intent. Basically cutting delves/heroic raiders/m+ out of getting that particular look (outside of higher m+ vaults) because they wanted to make it more exclusive.

That isn’t the reason. Ion said in the interview directly it’s from aligning the crests to match the 4 track levels of gear and the tracks not overlapping anymore (the overlapping item level currently requiring the next crest up to max upgrade being what they were fixing for). Removing the overlap area between Heroic and Mythic, that necessitated using the next type of crest, simply had the effect of removing the appearance unlock because 5/6 or 6/6 Hero track in Midnight wouldn’t be the same item level as base Mythic like it is currently.

This is a direct quote from the blue post listing the Midnight Alpha patch notes:

Ion can rationalize it however he wants, but the patch notes themselves say the intent is to “better preserve the value and identity of item art from difficult content.”

Unless we’re going to be given some other way for solo players to acquire Mythic appearances (which seems unlikely because that would involve giving us access to gear above Hero track) it seems pretty clear the stated intent is to deliberately cut delvers out of accessing Mythic tints.

That absolutely seems like the intent. I rewarded Blizzard with my sub all throughout TWW because it has been a VERY casual friendly expansion. If they’re taking that away in Midnight. I won’t be subbed. Tons of other games I can spend my time playing.

I don’t care about collecting transmogs all that much, so this isn’t a big loss to me.
But if removing addons and making rotations simpler, is to help onboard players and remove the barrier of entry to end game content, then this should be a fairly self solving problem as far as acquiring the appearances go.
