No more mouse-over macros!

Coming in this patch is a nice addition to the UI. In Interface Options > Combat, we will be able to select a new option called Unit Frame Mouseover Casting. Blizzard has simplified the process of setting up our bars and helped new healers get into their roles much more easily because of this. It might be a good idea to remove your old mouse-over macros before clicking that box though.

I was checking last week and the most recent version of bartender4 breaks that mouseover functionality (independent of you turning on the addon’s own mouseover option per bar). Issue is noted on github. So for anyone worrying why things are not working just take note of that. Unless there has been an update to said addon from this morning.

Functionality feels the same but if you have help/harm macros setup just keep them anyways since you are likely used to that by now.

Does it only work with unit frames? I have mouse over macro targeting for other things, like interrupting a mouse over target.

More waste of dev hours on unnecessary things.

There will be two different ways to use this.

Click casting : Clicking on a unit frame or target on the field, casting a spell bound to that mouse button on the target.

Mouseover casting : Hovering their cursor over a unit frame or target on the field, then pressing the appropriate keybind to cast a spell on the target.

So yes, your method still works. You can even just click the target now!

Auh,that doesn’t make sense we already do that with some the addons. Or do we now have it where you can click and spam multiple targets with one click?

There’s a lot of things they need to bring into the game’s native ui. Giving us the ability to combine all of our bags into one bag would be great. I would love for them to give us ‘bartender’ type options for action bars. I also would love for them to give us a proper dps/hps meter and threat meter in the native ui.

The idea is to make the game a full package, with all the popular conveniences included in the base game. And there were many healers who were never told this was even possible. I know my first dungeons as a healer weren’t stellar because of this. I was very lucky to meet a kind soul who guided me into mouse-over macros.

Why you gotta go rolecial, man?

This is pretty big. I hope it’ll work with side buttons. On my mouse side buttons don’t work with mouse over macros, so I have to bind my side buttons to [ and ].

Disagree, the fewer third party addons and less manual setup is required the better. I barely even use mouseover stuff (it’s hard for me to get used to) but can see why people like this change.

So I have to redo all of my UI on my healers? That sounds agonizing. :disappointed:

Ok. But does this also stack with self cast? My mouseover macros have self cast included too with no (valid) target hovered.

EDIT: and to be clear, I do not mean alt+button. For me, alt+button is yet another spell, also with a mouseover macro. :slightly_smiling_face:

You mean 2 spells with one click? Maybe macros will still be needed in some cases after all.

Can I still do both?

I have several mouseover and help/harm macros on my Druid, but I also have my big 3 heals as clicks.

Edit: I’m not home to test myself until tomorrow.

No, 2 spells with one macro (alt picks the spell). The macro will also self cast if the hovered target is not valid or present.

For all I know that’s included and works too! It’s fantastic!
disclaimer : I did not develop this and I haven’t tested it yet.

This is where it’s at. Though you can’t bind a lot of spells and abilities. I’ll stick with clique and healbot x_x
Since they let you bind whatever you want (including pvp trinkets, other totems, etc)

I use a G502 and the click casting acknowledges my m4, m5, and m7 and m8 keys. Might work for you!
