Just resubbed before wotlk prepatch, I recall at the launching of tbc classic we could either choose to copy our character to a perma 60 server or to any tbc realm. I haven’t logged in since classic P4 so is the free service no longer available? Afaik my faction suffered an exodus and alliance is pretty much dead on Whitemane

Whitemane Alliance pretty much died 
The character clone service was retired about a month ago.
Tyvm for the info. The clone service would come in handy for us returning players hopefully blizz will bring it back in wotlk

the clone service wouldn’t really have done anything. The clone service was only to clone your character onto the Classic Era realms. It wouldn’t let you clone your character somewhere else… gotta pay to transfer for that.
Unless thats what you wanted I guess.

I would hope so, but I don’t think it’s coming. I wouldn’t bank on it, if you’re looking to play WotLK.
I played on Whitemane Alliace (PuG Whitemane guild — I was an officer, and ran a lot of PuG raids, maybe with you at some point, during Classic).
Anyway, if you’re looking at WotLK, and wouldn’t mind rolling Horde, I’m rolling with Archaic. We have a pretty big community and are looking at about 5 raid groups. There’s probably one that’ll fit your schedule!

I’m a little unsure you understand what that “free character copy” was for.
It was to copy your classic character to classic forever servers.
It has absolutely zero impact on your future into wotlk.
If you want to play your alliance on whitemane you will need to pay $25 to transfer them to benediction (the only real alliance option)
Yeah, Pallies are pretty popular! Who knows though? Will everyone make it to 80 and be raid ready?
I agree, re-open the cloning service for 2019 classic characters.
