Trying to get my Raptor mount from Archeology. There are no more “fossil” dig sites in the title of anything on the map.
Sorry for making a new post, but I can’t post in Tuesday’s thread until “someone else joins the conversation.”
It has been a long time since I did a fossil site, but I believe that you need to work through other sites to spawn the fossil sites. And as far as making another post, I feel like at times I want to do it as well as I have had a issue with item levels dropping from world quests, mission table, NPCs and loot boxes. I am renown 70 and the item level on my main only drop 148 gear. Yet other then 1-2 other people not gotten much response for it.
There can only be 4 dig sites on Eastern Kingdoms or Kalimdor at once. Clear some out, and more digsites will appear.
If you do other digsites then new ones will instantly spawn and there’s a chance it could be a fossil.
Alternatively, you can farm artifacts from anywhere, crate them, and then convert them via vendor to fossil fragments. There’s a converter in Cho’s room above Mogu’shan.

I look forward to not being able to reuse this thread 2 days from now when I have some other question.
It might also be worth mentioning that you can avoid having to traverse the entirety of Kalimdor/EK and clearing irrelevant digsites by remaining in Pandaria.
The same vendor also sells an item that makes it so only Mantid digsites appear in Pandaria for a day, and Mantid digsites are entirely confined within two zones. Then you crate 'em and trade 'em for Fossils.
Pretty sure you get the currency for these from WoD, Legion, and BfA Digsites.
Faster than pre Pandarian dig sites IMHO.
Hopefully it doesn’t come to that and the the raptor will be your next solve.

If it hasn’t changed since I did it a while back you just have to do the other dig sites an it will unlock more around the world. Not sure if it’s contenent based but I vividly remember running out of dig sites in Tanaris and having to go to Felwood and dig those ones up until some more spawned down in the area I wanted.
