Continuing the discussion from Midnight Beta Test Development Notes:
Considering these latest notes, it seems likely that the Devourer we have now is what we’ll have when the pre-patch is released, at least mechanically. Normally, when they get to the point of only balancing numbers, we can forget about them changing mechanics.
I hope they reverse Reap’s damage reduction, that skill was already weak before, and now it’s even weaker.
There is at least two months left of beta. Stop the dooming.

If I’m wrong, I’m happily wrong, don’t misunderstand me, it’s not dooming, it’s just the experience I’ve had with Blizzard so far. Once they start focusing on numbers, there are rarely big mechanical changes.

They are only balancing abilities against each other. Doesn’t mean their won’t be any more mechanical changes. Plenty of time for changes still before the xpac goes live.
false
To say this, they have to be comparing our numbers with those of other classes, and therefore the balance is in relation to other classes.

We’re now down to about 2 weeks before the holidays, then we’re about 3 weeks from early access…so at most just over a month left of beta.
…and it’s still bad. So bad that Blood DKs do more damage, everything else in the game is less squishy, most other DPS are more mobile, and with the exception of Evokers, every other caster in the game has more range.
I think he’s good to doom now.
Not sure where your math is coming from.
Early access is at the end of February. So there is nearly three months of time left minus holiday break.
So many times DH was doing crazy well in the beta then launch day they get tuned and put in a bad place. I know that happened with the DF xpac.
The recent build has a lot of good changes least for havoc in it.
He’s dooming about Devourer…and you’re bragging about….”not Devourer”
Make it make sense.
Also, fair enough typo on my part… I was referring to prepatch, and said “early access.” My bad on that, although someone like you who was talking about beta timing probably already knew that.. Point still stands.
edit: to clarify, we’re likely looking at prepatch (i.e. “all changes done”) by late January. Subtract the holidays, and there’s maybe 2-3 weeks of actual potential for changes. Realistically, what we have now is probably what’s going live.
By the time the pre-patch is released, you can forget about any changes; at that point, it’s just about preparing the classes for the raid, and there won’t be any significant changes until patch 12.1.
If you were keen on the Devourer as a caster, I would recommend going for the Evoker; it will be a safer and more stable experience. If not, we’ll always have Havoc, which actually looks really good.
Prepatch is in about a month and blizz has a week or so off for holidays so I think major changes are likely done. I could see fire mage getting an ability and maybe mm hunter as well but that is about it. Classes are pretty hit and miss next zpac
