No, Me Not Inviting You to My Key isn't Gatekeeping

You’re just playing a DPS spec when there are literally dozens of DPS players applying in LFG, many of which are playing the same spec as you but are more geared/have higher IO, and I have at most three available DPS spots to fill. I have no reason to specifically invite your Frost DK when I could scroll up or down a little and find a potentially-better one.

I am not out to make your experience playing WoW miserable. Me not inviting you is not a personal vendetta against you. There are just that many people trying to join.

But you just don’t understand…I’m better than all of them, I just don’t have the rating or gear to prove it. (every person on the forums that complains about not getting invited)

When you are the one deciding who goes and who does not, yeah, that is the definition of gatekeeping.

So get a key, and lock a gate

Look, I’m gonna need you to find a way to invite all 43 DPS who applied to your 5 person group.

I’ll invite someone from a better server that’s 5 ilvl lower than someone from… well, you know.

This posts needs this guy, lol.

Its not about ilvl. I am better than all those with better ilvl. Unless they have less than me. Than you should invite me because I have better ilvl.

And rating can be bought. You shouldnt invite someone with a higher rating than me. If they have a lower rating, it means they have little experience and I should be invited.

META classes are just fotm rerollers that dont know how to play their spec. So dont invite them. But dont invite that statistically lower performing spec over me either.

Sounds good to me! I tend to avoid people who act elite anyone, so I appreciate the good news!

But they’d be way better than those people… if only you weren’t gatekeeping them!

Sounds elitist.

Like you are gatekeeping your social interactions.

Not inviting you isn’t elitist. If not inviting you is elitist, inviting you is just as elitist towards someone else.

This mentality is so mindbogglingly stupid it’s insane.

my favorite is the guy that signs up to my +9 as a 595 ilvl mage and whispers me linking title achievement proclaiming about how god they are and that I need to just trust them. Bud, you are 595 it doesn’t matter how good you are you’re going to get slapped.

I don’t gate social interactions. I run tons of stuff with my guild, open world RP with complete strangers, and even drop in to help out randos in the wild who are struggling. Unlike most players in this game, I still play like it is TBC. Help those who ask, avoid those who think they are superior. :yellow_heart: So I am SUPER excited to not be invited.

No, but it doesn’t have to be that to be gatekeeping. Gatekeeping is not your goal, and there’s nothing wrong with inviting who you want and not others. But you are sitting where your big elite skillz butt blocks the gate.

I am not saying you don’t have every right to sit there. It’s your seat.

It’s still gatekeeping.

(And when I talk about the intentionally toxic part, that would be the people who WANT to gatekeep, and thus lobby for changes that make it easier for them to do so.)

You’re just playing the game as intended.

I’d say it’s more likely that they probably aren’t playing a Meta spec.

EXACTLY! There is a reason I am not in T12 Delves on alts… that gear score is everything.

I dunno man.

Sounds gatekeepy. You are keeping the gate shut on specific people.

tsk tsk.

Granted, in this situation its absolutely impossible for the OP or any group leader to invite every single person. Making your entire comparison silly.

But didnt you say the OP is elitist for not taking someone with a high enough ilvl/gear score?
