Although I know most of the dissatisfaction is justified.
Mage DEV here : we removed Frost bolt from mage and made it avalable to evoker ! also mage dragon breath been removed since they are not dragon . In the future we also plan to remove phoenix flame since mage are not phoenix .

it’s blizzard way of saying just switch to other classes or unsub. They don’t care about mages at all this expansion. So many problems since they revealed the talent trees and they dont even pretend to care

Mirror Images are once again disappearing on cast or 1 point of damage. Whee!
Mages are in the gutter, face down. I’ve mained a mage since BC and this is the absolute worst i’ve seen them. MOP brought some horrible changes that have stuck around ( ROP) and still haven’t been addressed. Arcane is everyones solution to our horrible DPS, but you need PHD in magery to be really good at it, even then it can still be ruined by 1 misclick or mistake. Frost is just as clunky as ever and spamming ice lances is not fun. Fire is just as bad as frost and outside of combustion, dps feels horrible. Fireballs hit for nothing, pyros suck when they dont crit… Aoe for frost and fire both need a good build up and by the time you get it, the mobs are dead and you’re in last place on the meter. They keep re-working other classes that werent doing that bad and keep ignoring mages who are clearly stuggling with dps. I was doing mythics and got up to around a 370ish ilvl and would get crapped on by hunters with 10-15 ilvs below me, just forget about keeping up with anyone else whos equally or better geared. I used to be able to out dmg ppl with far better gear than me just through great play, now even when im trying as hard as i can, i still get owned by people with less gear and effort. Nobody wants to play a class where you have to be a sweaty try hard pro and still get clowned on by ppl barely trying. Being tethered to ROP is also becoming unbearable with all of the movement and crap being thrown on the ground on every raid encounter as well. An easy fix would be to buff encanters flow so its a more viable option or significantly increase the radius of the circle on the ground. Mirror images are now basically useless as well. That used to be a great way to solo kill a tough mob or elite, now its just a joke. Alter time sucks now. Used to be a great dmg cooldown, now its only to keep your wizard a$$ alive. Overall i think arcanes complexity needs to be toned down and reworked to be more forgiving, frost needs buffed and to actually have a flowing rotation instead of a whack a mole style ice lance spam. Fire needs to be brought back to its glory days. Stop changing how combustion works every other xpac. I used to love putting up a LB and combustion and spreading it to everyone with fire blast. The old combustion that was a DOT was probably the best, bring that back. There used to be no argument, Fire was the best for raiding, frost for pvp, arcane was kind of good for raiding but was always great for dungeons with quick fights, could get off a ton of dmg in short time but was kind of bad for longer fights. A lot of the stuff we have is great for utility but we lack dmg and smooth forgiving rotations that everyone else seems to have. Nobody cares that you can sheep, long gone are the days of needing to CC mobs. Nobody cares that you bring food. Nobody cares that you can timewarp if they already have someone who can. Nobody cares that you can ice block and avoid a mechanic. Nobody cares that you can blink to get out of trouble. All of our “utility” is great outside of important content, but all anyone really looks at is your dmg and our dmg sucks. As of now, i barely play. Im keeping my account alive just for the trading post stuff and hoping they’ll give mages some love soon. I know a lot of other people dont care that we suck this xpac because it’s almost never the case, but you also have to realize that a lot of people main mages and to give them no good options for dps as a PURE dps class… It’s downright shameful.

The old combustion that was a DOT was probably the best, bring that back.
I honestly thought I was the only one who loved old combustion… Building up a huge ignite and letting loose combustion was unbelievably amazing when done and timed correctly. I loved it and would demolish. Yes it was very gear dependent, but we had more crit passively.
What a great feeling that was to build up a massive ignite, lb, combust, then watch everything burn. Combustion really meant something. Everyone knew when you hit a big one.

After the last maint, frozen orb disappears with that same 1 point of dmg as well.
we still had to fish for fire blast that could spread that dot i think, i forgot but man that was satisfying
It was massively satisfying when it worked…but very frustrating when it didn’t work.
Ion recently did an interview and said that there will not be anymore class reworks like paladin got, for the rest of the expac. GG. Maybe next time…

It was glorious on big aoe pulls. I believe flame orb was also a thing then too. It was similar to frozen orb but in the fire tree. But yeah anyway, if you built up a bit and hit a big combust and spread that everywhere, BOOOM ! Ignite,LB, combust on everything with a orb up ! And yes, everyone knew when you did it lol. Meter would spike and sometimes would rip threat. This was way back in the cata days with firelands and dragon soul. Not sure why the keep changing how combustion works but they really need to stop. I took a break after mop and didnt come back until SL so im not sure how horrible everything was between those xpacs. From what i can tell arcane and fire had some good ones, but SL was horrible and so is this xpac. Sorry, but nobody wants to be a sweaty try hard to land middle of the pack in dps. Thats not what mages are about !
