I came back hardcore for this expansion and was loving it. Like majorly. I even thought this could be the next Legion/LK.
Then M+ dropped and all the reasons I quit came rushing back.
The toxic groups, the dungeon design intentionally crafted around M+ abilities, meta builds and being removed if you’re not the right spec, “form your own key” then people leave the second anyone dies even on low keys, esport timers for an MMO…
The problem with M+ is you have to do it. People will fight back and say you don’t but good luck finding a raiding guild that allows you to skip your M+ chest weekly and still raid. You’re intentionally gimping yourself.
I have since quit the game. It sucks. If PvP dropped a chest weekly with 616+ ilvl gear and a chance to get tier and BiS trinkets, you would be forced to it do it.
I hate WoW PvP so I don’t do it but I don’t HAVE to do it because the gear is separate. Until they either separate M+ gear or make loadouts or just make it a cosmetic/bragging rights only content, I will never be able to fully come back to the game and I think some people feel the same.
my ilevel is 607. i have only run one m2 so far and I am already at a point with my gear that I need to run +4s and higher to upgrade my gear further.
that sort of means that I have to get KSM (which i more or less intend to get eventually) in order to actually upgrade my gear during the week. as far as I can tell, anything below +4 isn’t really giving me the resources I need.
I have gotten 2-2.5k during DF only 7 or 8 different toons (tanks, healers, dps) so I am aware of the big jump in m0 scaling. however, even these low level m+ dungeons hit pretty hard. they are somewhat unforgiving for learning. the jump from heroic to m0 is quite large.
No it’s not. They could stop being money hungry trashcans and make their game decent. It’s blatantly obvious they’re pushing players to buy wow tokens.
The GCD is quite fast and affected by haste. I never really noticed just how fast the GCD was until playing FFXIV and feeling like it was taking an eternity to be able to use another ability. FFXIV has a static 2.5s GCD while WoW’s baseline GCD is 1.5s.
Everyone ages differently and has their own set of variables. For example, I used to play and love fighting games, but I was born with a lose ligament on my thumb, and as I hit my 30s, it started to become more and more noticeable, and even started to impact my combo execution.
As time passed, I accepted that I cannot play certain characters I once enjoyed, and honestly I don’t play fighting games much anymore. WoW is pressing buttons on a keyboard, so my thumb limitation doesn’t slow me down! It’s all about finding something new if what you are currently doing no longer works for you, or inconveniences you. If mythic+ isn’t working for you, you can explore other content WoW offers as well!
Hmm… if only the odds of becoming disabled weren’t higher as you get older. Many people are less fortunate than you have been. I was rear ended right before my 19th birthday, in a time then lawyer would not sue the cops insurance because it would be a conflict of interest or create one for future cases! Now I have a spinal injury that cause loss of feeling in my hands and legs sometimes. No huge settlement to buy me the fancy tech to keep up when you don’t know what your fingers are doing. Ever try to walk when you cant feel your legs because of nerve damage and pressure on your spinal cord? Not so easy to just do it for many! And gaming actually help distract from pain and is therapeutic for some of us. Congrats on your ability to lose so much weight. Congrats again on it being your choice, and not outside sources, causing you to not be so mobile before. Would be nice to stop making excuses, if only the excuses had left me alone in the first place!
I’m 72 and get 4-5 healers to KSH each season and have been doing so since M+ came out. (slow start so far this season, my tank son errr brother ( ) has been away on a business trip.
First of all I am sorry to hear that. The point I was making to the OP is just that over 40 is an excuse. Yes there are people with legitimate disabilities who can’t do things. However, one thing that changed my life was watching a marine who lost both legs in Afghanistan run using his hands in a race. Did he win? No, but he has my immense respect for turning a bad situation into something positive and inspirational. I have severe OCD, it makes living normally a specific kind of hell. I’ve had it since I was a child, but we do the best and keep moving forward with what we have. Life’s all about taking punches and getting back up.
Might also have something to do with the amount of people in the World. More people means more with social disorders that don’t allow them to play well with others. Some people fail to see they are a part of the problem because they KNOW they are better than the MAJORITY of players so can’t be part of any problem.
I am 41, and disabled. I raid to heroic, and mythic+ to 2000+ score. It isn’t that hard. With delves they practically throw end game gear at you. I’ve made a good million gold so far this expansion with crafting. I don’t have the physical capability to fly around and harvest. I put in maybe 6 to 8 hours a week at most into WoW now days. I pay for my account with WoW tokens. The price for crafting crap is high, especially for blacksmithing, i wont deny that. It becomes a ton cheaper when you do it yourself though. At the same time, just selling materials nets you more money than ever atm. You should be able to afford those crafts. You only need 2 crafted items anyways, for the 2 unique embellishment limit.
Look, the world is complicated and full of nuance.
Some people have issues. Some don’t. Some of it you have control over, some of it you don’t, and some of it is a pure skill issue. Age itself is irrelevant, and WoW has a whole lot of different content for different people.
I’ll be 40 in a couple months; I run a full-time business of my own, have kids, have several bands, lots of responsibilities, some creeping health issues, etc…but I still run M+ just fine.
In fact, I had an accident several years ago in which I sliced a tendon and severely bruised the bones in part of my mouse/dominant hand (came pretty close to a major nerve as well), and it never quite healed properly. My hand will still literally go numb sometimes halfway through a dungeon. I still manage to do pretty damned well.
If you can’t, that’s fine, but blaming age is kinda disingenuous…as is complaining about the game when it offers so much to so many different types of players.
