I’ve gotten about 22 total mining knowledge so far from nodes, 22 of which I got from my first 100 nodes. However I haven’t gotten a single knowledge drop from the past 300+ mining nodes. Is 22 knowledge the soft-cap or am I missing something? This is on my lvl 66 DH.

If you check your journal you will see some items have a limit. It will tell you how many items you can get (the easier one). I believe there is another one that can proc too of rare mines (probably linked with perception). But there may also be a soft cap for those. I am unsure. Might just be a low drop rate. Most of the skill will be based on weekly stuff it seems. And there are some stuff you can do on the side for some extra points.
Note you can ask for inscriptions to do crafting orders for draconic treatises for skill points once a week. The recipe is soulbound so you can’t ask for it on the auction house. Some stuff looks like crafting orders only.

So do we stop getting knowledge from mining nodes after attaining 22 knowledge? Is that the soft cap you think?
For skinning, it’s 7 per week from normal mobs, and uncapped from elementally charged mobs (apparently; I’m still in Ohn’ara so I haven’t met them). Dunno how it works exactly for mining/herbalism.
No I mean you check in your journal it will tell you how many times a week. The other item (the epic upgrade) probably is a low chance to drop or soft capped.
