Dear Blizzard,
After investing time and money into your product as a platform service, I feel that your company is making a seriously bad decision on “Smushing Levels”. As your customer, should you continue with your “Level Smush” I will cancel my subscription and move on.

+1 OP, I think a level squish is a horrible idea, not as bad as removing the faction wall, but still really horrible.

Nah it’s a great idea, 120 is too many levels.

Yea we should be level 10000 with ilvl 45950 criting for 999999905. Yay numbers!
But really, what do the number matter when its all relative?

Agreed. Back in my day, going past level 20 in D&D meant you were ready to start punching dragons to death. Nowadays we just add numbers to add them.

There’s 2 things to make a level squish worth while; they don’t keep the total amount of exp required to go from 1 to 120 currently the same when they do the squish (I believe they would need to lower the amount). Then they need to make sure leveling feels rewarding. It feels… weird that most classes you gain no abilities from lvl 80 onwards, and the talent system stops at lvl 100 (110 for Demon Hunters, for obvious reasons).
However a lvl squish may not be needed if they nerf the total amount of xp needed by huge margins each time they increase the level cap.

Definitely signed. A level squish would require a lot of time and resources, time and resources that would be better spent doing something worthwhile

Yeah, it is too hard to count to 120 right?

nope there are too many levels in the game already, it’s just annoying at this point.
they as well just take us to 60 and give us paragon points, those would actually be more meaningful.
also i’m sick of characters doing stupid numbers of damage, it’s just silly at this point.
i definitely think classic damage numbers are less silly and annoying.
we don’t need to go all the way down to classic numbers, but lowering the numbers would be good and less annoying

I’ve played RPGs like that. They end up replacing the lower digits with ‘K’ and ‘M’ to save screen space (So I agree with you, large numbers are absurd and get truncated anyway).
Number resolution needn’t be so high, though 130 isn’t so terrible a high number. Still, I can see the intimidation it might pose to new players. It’s a tough decision between growth and retention; I don’t envy their choice.
“Hi, I don’t have any idea how this will work or what the plan is, but I’m DEFINITELY against it, and will post a petition in a forum that explicitly says no petitions.”
LOL

After investing time and money into the same product as a platform service, I am more than fine with a level squish.
People who scream “Change this or I will leave” do nothing.

I’m confused. Why is this a hot topic again? Did I miss some official announcement somewhere that this was happening?
That’s cause we entered super mythic campaign levels of stupid with WoW
Wonderful. We have no confirmation if it’s happening or not, we know nothing involving if they plan to go through with it next expansion, and there are plenty of people who quit over shenanigans regularly. Relax.

Nah it’s just unnecessary. Levels should feel impactful. Hopefully if they do a squish they redo talents so that way each level feels important.

Quoted for truth. The fact we go 40 levels without a meaningful class ability and 20 levels without a single talent in an RPG is absurd.

A level squish/smush/reduction won’t help with an impactful feeling. Also, the problem will be back in a few expansions.
