No Level Scaling in Shadowlands Zones?

Why is there no level scaling in Shadowlands Zones (Bastion, Maldraxxus, Ardenweald, Revendreth)? I’m currently 57 in Maldraxxus fighting level 54 mobs. Level Scaling has been a great feature ever since they introduced it in Legion. I’m not sure the reasoning behind reverting it.

Edit
By the way, I understand why they want us to go through the zones in a particular order (so they can tell a more cohesive story), but I don’t understand why the zones don’t scale with you so that you don’t out level them. Out leveling a zone is a problem Blizzard solved 4 years ago with Legion. Makes no sense to bring it back.

After completing everything, your alts will be able to play where ever they want

I understand that. But why is it possible to out level the zones the first time around?

Well, maybe should be scaling and requirements for new zones like “Need to complete previous zone campaign”

Saying level scaling “solved” anything is fairly up for debate.

Plenty of people think it crippled all sense of leveling progression.

I got to 60 on essentially just doing the main story quests with no problems. Quit complaining.

Probably because of all the complaints from players last expansion that they could never outgear/overpower outdoor creatures because they always scaled.

RPG elements some such nonsense is why we outlevel creatures again I presume.

How many people can you actually speak for when you say that? Thats right. Just yourself. So, in truth, you don’t know for a fact that it is a great feature except through your own opinion.

Edit: To be fair i have no issues with the level scaling. It’s the ilevel scaling that needs to go.

Don’t t worry tho when you’re back in those zones doing your Callings, everything scales to 60+.

It’s subjective. For me leveling is getting higher level to reach max. And then distinctly from that questing is completing everything in the zone.

So long as I can do both of those things in any expanded manner because of opened up zone choices to reduce burnout on favorite zones. Like for example duskwood is a favorite zone but going always through duskwood would ruin it, level scaling opens up far more nearby alternatives than far traveling to northern EK or Kalimdor.

Also additionally, can anyone really say the prior level 80 undead elite were weaker than mogu in jade forest, that were 84-85? Level scaling normalizes that disparity in power, so long as you keep designated explicit low level zones (which unfortunately they got rid of),

Because the game is an inconsistent mess. Blizzard hasn’t had an A team for a long time now and it shows. Except the artists, those people do great work.

I think adding level scaling was a mistake in the first place it’s never really felt right in rpgs. The chromie time system is a far better way of making past expansions relevant to level through and the lack of choice in the high level zones is more a problem of having less and less zones per expansion then the removal of level scaling, wrath had 8 leveling zones tbc 7 and shadowlands only has 4.
