Hello,
I’ve been playing the Implosive Potential Legendary over the last couple of weeks and quite enjoyed the smoothness of the gameplay once the imps are imploded. It feels very rapid fire where you chain one ability into the next and can result in quite satisfying results.
To that end, I am curious why some form of the Implosive Potential talent is not included in the Demo Tree for Dragonflight.
How do you other Warlocks feel about the omission of this ability going forward?
It would probably be way to strong considering imp gang boss exists if I’m being completely honest.

I have enjoyed Implosive Potential across Shadowlands, had my fill of it.
But in part, i am glad it’s gone similar to how i am glad they did not brought Explosive Potential Azerite to Shadowlands.
The way those effects worked would be better fit for temporary effects like tier sets, but not talent trees, specially if they came to be weakened in the process.
In truth, those effects can be replaced with effects who better fit talent trees while giving the “feeling” of speeding up the rotation.
Borne of Blood is a fantastic exemple of such an effect, it gave you 0 haste, but it made you feel a LOT faster by simple virtue of giving you a lot of Demonic Core Procs allowing you to replace 2 Shadow bolts in the rotation (Each one a 2s cast at 0 haste) for 1 Demonbolt (a instant cast with a gcd of 1,5s at 0 haste).
In Dragonflight we have 2 interesting replacement for Implosive potential in Aoe.
Imp Gang Bosses : Who make the AOE rotation feeling faster by refunding IGB’s imploded with Wild Imps(or more IGB’s) allowing you already start the next implosion cycle with a few imps.
Bloodbound imps: who increases your demonic core generation in AOE by ludicrous amounts that you might not even need.

Not a designer so genuinely curious as to why IP is better suited for temporary ‘systems’ like Tier Sets vs a permanent option one like our Talent Tree?
I hope so. I am definitely out for great feeling Demo gameplay once Demonic Core procs come flowing in. I didn’t get a chance to play with the Bloodbound Imps talent you mentioned so I’ll give it a whirl at max level in Dragonflight.
It was just my initial ‘gut reaction’ that it wouldn’t quite compete with the feel of a haste effect, so I am saddened to see Implosive Potential being sunset come Dragonflight.

I am not a design either, i am just a player and that is just a personal opinion of mine in particular about the idea of talents and how they should avoid being bland “+X stat or +Y damage”
1 - Implosive Potential and Explosive Potential executing it’s effect of making things quicker by giving you Haste and while playing faster is awesome, That haste also makes the secondary stat a little less special from other sources (like gear) by the end of BFA i had mostly removed haste from my gear because EP + Expedientx3 was enough to give me +60% haste and above that it was just way too much to play confortably.
2 - Talents who are just X% damage/ X% stats / X% extra stat even if on a proc end up being more boring than more creative solutions like Borne of Blood or Imp Gang Boss.
Those effects can be fine for something that is more temporary, but the moment we talk about something more permanent, i think effects should be more creative [a shame as the talent trees still have many pure +X% damage] and take more care about how they interact with the rest of enviroment [How they affect secondary stat for exemple]
Thats kind of it, while i have loved to play with IP/EP in their respective times i think those solutions like Borne of Blood and Imp Gang Boss are just better creative ways to make a spec faster without touching your haste % or even cast time.
