So, the Forsaken ARE a Horde faction, but the Alliance gets the haunted looking area? Not that I mind, it’s cool that they do…but shouldn’t there be something more Forsaken(y) (ish) for the Horde? Somewhere?
I’m actually surprised that dilapidated human style houses aren’t an option in Horde neighborhoods.
If the HOA complains…I will put my D.R.I.V.E. vehicle up on cinderblocks in the yard…
“I’m sure it’ll be in the next patch!”
-Player who is still waiting for bare minimum customization options from Blizzard.
I believe that the “haunted” look is Duskwood - which is spooky. But that’s why Alliance has it, since Darkshire is across a stream from Elwynn. I don’t believe Durotar has a spooky neighboring zone - it looks like Horde is kind of getting tropical oasis (Echo Isles?)
I believe the goal is to have more options roll out over time, which is ok. Remember, housing is really in its 0.x release. These tend to have basic functions, as it is easier to fix any issues that arise from live and THEN add customizations.
My personal goal is for us to be able to have cross-faction exteriors. A Forsaken Addam’s Family house in a Duskwook setting would be amazing.
Pandaren just showed what their heritage armor is going to be like, the first ones released was back in december of 2018. Took us several years to get around to the core races at the time since they started this. They promised every race will have their own thematic housing but looking at blizzards track record, my hopes aren’t high.
Did they say the zones would be faction-locked? I was under the impression that private neighborhoods are available for races on either faction.
I’m with you, OP. I am not super thrilled with the options for the Horde. I love Victorian/Gothic styles and the spooky stuff even though Tauren is my preferred race. If given the choice I would go for a Tyrisfal/Gilneas style house in a spooky forest.
I may just have to go to an Alliance public neighborhood instead of playing with my friends. I really don’t want a warehouse in the desert.
Zones and house exteriors are hard locked to the faction they belong to. You get one house per faction per account, so two total. All your characters can visit both houses, but the houses must be purchased by a character of that faction.
I wish they had prioritized just having different area themes for the races in the factions. Instead of sticking strictly to neighboring areas, when they only have one option for each side.
Yeah I am still looking for that limitless self-expression they touted when housing was announced.
Hard agree. They really like to drag their feet when it comes to certain things. And racial customization seems to be at the top of their “To-Don’t” list.
I think some of the zones are going to have unsavory areas.
And we know that while they said it’s evergreen, things get sidetracked. Like heritage armor, and warband wide rep, so what we get could be that way for years.
You know… now that you mention it. I am still waiting for that dance studio that was literally listed on the physical box for Wrath.
Horde doesn’t have any spooky areas nearby to Orgrimmar, though. The housing is based around Orgrimmar.
It’s better they add in housing now than making everyone wait for them to add housing to literally every zone.
Felwood isn’t that far away. Still…a bunch of Forsaken with beach houses does have a certain ironic bit of humor to it…
At least that didn’t have a chance. Some stuff they did implement in the game and haven’t finished. At least poor Pandas finally get their heritage armor.
They should have had a different approach. They have a Night Elf area in the Alliance version.
Also Azshara doesn’t really fit Blood Elves like people were saying. It’s still very Azshara and not Silvermoon at all. It’s the Silvermoon we have at home I guess. The trees aren’t the same, no aesthetics that are the same. Just a similar color scheme with the trees.
The desert and the mesa areas are close and are the smallest area of the Horde neighborhood. So I don’t know what their excuse is there.
They definitely should have gone with a more race fantasy approach being that this is the only neighborhood we have at launch.
Felwood isn’t Horde territory, though. It’s neutral territory. So it would be difficult for them to have housing there. The housing is all based around zones nearby the capital city.
Except the Night Elf area in the Alliance neighborhood. They stretched for that one.
Alliance is the edgy faction now, they got literal space genociders as part of their faction now
Horde is just bland and exists, we cannot have any personality cuz the alliance gets it all
