Regardless of how one might have thought about him personally, he was still a lead developer for the game. Much of what he said in the past matters because that’s really all we have to glean from.
Probably another reason why nobody communicates with us now so that folks can’t parse Blizzard’s words as they please in the future when the produce new content.
They aren’t a max level classic character, they can’t possibly have a legitimate opinion and they are incorrect with their statement. They don’t know enough about the game to talk about dual spec
We didn’t and still don’t really even need these blue posts to back up our arguments for why dual spec should not be added. We had plenty of discussion and offered plenty of sound material forward for why not adding dual-spec is immune to #somechanges. It is different from the other changes already made in that it directly crosses a no-can-do line by contradicting the actual design intention and experience of TBC, which TBCC is aiming to at least somewhat closely recreate.
Having all these blue post/tweets dug up just kind of makes the pot sweeter and reinforces what we’re saying of course, but I think it’s important for honest discussion that the pro-dual-spec side pretty much can never disingenuously use “design intention” or the intent of the developers when arguing for dual spec, since the developers clearly didn’t share their opinions at the time.
Just come out and say it, you’re lazier than the average 2007 player and want to make the game easier. At least that’s an honest argument. Doesn’t mean we’ll let you get it added to TBCC, but at least we don’t waste so much of our time arguing about “design ethos” and whatever, and nobody likes wasting time.
Honestly, the argument about the level of the character posting is irrelevant because I’m a max level character and actively play classic on a class that stands to benefit most from dual spec, and I still don’t want dual spec.
They just come up with something different to discredit you. Don’t worry about it.
