I raided on my pally an hour ago, and I ended up joining a guild group (not my guild) of 9 members. I made sure to ask loot rules right away and was told MS > OS. Well Hydra dropped and people that should not have rolled for it with their OS, and one of them managed to beat my roll. That would not have bothered me too much tbh even though I’ve been pretty dry with my characters these last two weeks as I know people get forced into tanking when they want to DPS but the tank that won it gave it away to their guild member instead.
Happened to me today in a guild run that needed a few pugs. I joined on my priest and discord wasn’t posted until time was already invested. I just let them know I’ve cleared the things 2 dozen times and they could look for a new priest and my rogue buddy if they wanted.
The irony was that I ended up doing 33% more healing than their guildy priest and on kelris I had something like 14 dispels and he had zero.(half or more dispels were from phase 1 lmao)
Side note for my fellow orcs, who I love, think of that racial as reducing healing by 100% rather than 50%.
To be fair, for some reason BFD is locking people to instances before the first boss is killed, so if they even so much as zoned into the instance then it doesn’t matter how early they’re told what’s going on

I mean…not sure what is difficult of joining the voice chat for the raid you’re in, but if you’re going to whine about it, might as well just connect and mute it.
Fr, second discord acct and open in your broswer so you can chill with the boys in main disc. A staple of gdkp raiding on alts.

Back in WLK original, when I first decided to give raiding a try, I just told folks I was deaf and that’s why I couldn’t join voice chat. I always did well, usually with little instruction due to preparation.
Yeah they love to pop that at the worst times.
If nobody else is taking dmg I’ll heal them, but they just became the lowest priority target.

You know what’s also easy? Notifying people when you’re assembling your group that something as major as not being in discord will disbar you from getting loot. You know, like, “LF1M, Healer, Fresh BFD Start Disc Req”
See? Easy. Would have saved us both some time as I would not have joined the group in the first place.
Yeah i dont mess with discord pugs.
I joined two and in both it did not take long for the black jokes to pop off. So yeah im good.

i raided very hardcore in 2004-2006 in a top end guild and always hated the goofballs messing stuff up and acting like clowns. havent been anywhere near as serious as i played then but something about clowns in voice chat annoys me.
Also I like to be immersed in the game with the sounds and visuals of the game giving me all i need to know. scratchy fuzzy loud voice chat really takes me out of that.

Discord requirement for BFD is lol at this point. You can practically do the raid with your eyes closed as long as your raid composition isn’t atrocious.
just reset all instances to get back your lockout.
