I am very disappointed that cross-faction guilds and PvE aren’t coming to Shadowlands. The Horde/Alliance split is an anachronism today and it’s hurting the game.
People want to play with their freinds, ALL of their friends. Telling new players you can only play with 50% of the players just doesn’t make sense in 2020.
People want to participate in viewer raids on Twitch - of which the vast majority are horde.
Low pop realms are dying - not everyone can afford to pay $$$ to transfer a dozen characters and leave friends they’ve played with for 10+ years. And believe me, if a guild transfer, people (friends) WILL be left behind. How can that possibly be good for the game?
And running a guild on a low pop server? Recruiting is a nightmare - my server hasn’t even had a single mythic raiding guild in 4+ years.
Mythic+ ? Horde outnumber Alliance 2:1 in higher keys. It’s much more difficult finding pugs as Alliance.
Why keep this story crutch? Because it’s always been this way? Come on, be honest. You keep this crutch because it makes you money in server transfers. That’s doing long term harm to your customers. You’d have fewer people just flat out quitting if the game populations were healthier and folks could group and guild with their friends
You can keep the HvA illusion when Warmode is on, but take note that it’s 2020 and what made sense in 1995 doesn’t necessarily make sense today. Please. Get rid of factions as we know them today.

I am not really disappointed, though I would likely feel differently if I mained Alliance. I will admit I was surprised though, I was for sure something was going to change in regards to the faction divide. I never thought they would remove them or anything like that… but I thought something would change.

I was kinda hoping for faction restriction to be removed to play with all my friends. It really sucks to not being able to play with friends or playing the race you want with your friends. It doesn’t feel good.

Every player can group with any player, there are no player factions. The grand companies in FFXIX and the Factions in WoW are 2 completely different thing. They are more like the Covenants.

The devs prefer to cater to the highly toxic PvP crowd (fair and balanced World PvP is largely a myth), which caused the entire War Mode fiasco.
So, I’m not surprised that they’ve once again decided to ignore the MANY Players who are faction agnostic, in favor of yet more annoying War Mode on what were for years PvE realms - realms people deliberately chose, or even PAID to transfer to, so they wouldn’t have to play in a PvP-centric environment.
No one is saying we should be one faction, but there SHOULD be ways to play the game with the PEOPLE you like, regardless of faction - at least for scenario/dungeon content.

Any grand company member can group with any other grand companies members. Completely different. Every player is a warrior of light and can group with anyone, there are no factions in FFXIV.

Alliance people are free to join the Horde if they don’t like their faction.

Look, I know you stepped in not knowing what you were talking about and that is fine, it happens. Doubling down on it doesn’t help.
People were asking for Horde and Alliance to be able to group for PvE content. You can do this in FFXIV. That was the discussion.

They aren’t factions in the same way. Do more then 3 second of research.
You can play with everybody. There are no barriers stopping you from playing with your friends for no reason.

Ya and in ff14 it could make sense because their lore is different
There is absolutely no way the forsaken and nelves could just get over their fight and work together
