i think blizz disabled crest too early lol. Just did an 8 and got 0 crest

I think they did disable crests too early.
I went to convert some crests for a last minute upgrade and bought the item to get the next tier of crests (clutch of gilded harbinger’s crests). When I tried to use the item to get the gilded crests, the cast bar to open the item finished casting, but nothing happened. The item stayed in my inventory and I didn’t get any crests.
This was around 11:45pm PST. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is a left over bug from DF where the season ended at 10pm the night before, in the middle of my typical weeknight playing time.

A hard cut-off to lock-in ratings makes sense to me. I’m a bit surprised that they turned off crests at the same time.
My Zekvir ?? solo kill last had an empty treasure room which just felt odd. Still got my achievement and void schematic off the boss after 10pm though, so I’m not complaining.
That says ratings, not crests.

Well, it would seem Blizzard is incapable of distinguishing the two from each other. It wouldn’t surprise me if the programming was written as such.
Yeah. The only thing communicated in that link as going away today was the top M+ % title. Everything else is March 4th.

Also weird to get a vault full of items I can’t upgrade. Or tokens that can only be used for sparks, sockets, or gold.

Even the rating lock time is arbitrary and dumb. If everyone was in the same few time zones and everyone went to bed before 10pm pst it would feel less arbitrary, but reality is that this is a global game with people playing around the clock. A typical bedtime in California (10pm) is early evening in Australia (5pm the next day) at this point in the year (daylight savings on each side of the world will adjust that slightly). If I was in Australia I’d be even more upset than I am right now because 5pm in any time zone (aest in this case) is an awful time to lock ratings. That’d ruin my entire evening. It’s best to simplify things and keep everything active until the servers go down. Let us get rating, get crests, upgrade crests, etc. the entire evening. There will be fewer bugs that way.
Even if they do continue to arbitrarily lock ratings prior to the servers going down, if someone finishes a key at 9:59 pm pst, they need to be able to spend any crests they earned throughout the rest of the evening until the servers go down for the patch. I came back to try to upgrade an hour or two after my last key because I went to do something else and forgot to double check that I had spent all the currency I could after the key was finished. That was when I saw 90 tuned crests that I wanted to turn into gilded ones. Crest upgrade tokens were bugged (as stated above, I could buy the upgrade item, but not use it).
Earning and upgrading crests and valorstones, and being able to upgrade gear with them, needs to continue until the servers go down to install the patch. That’s more important to me than the rating lock, although I’d like to see the rating lock go away as well.

For what it’s worth, the Triumphant Satchel of Carved Harbinger Crests I had purchased after the 10pm cut-off was removed from my backpack after Patch 11.1.0 went live and sent through the mail as a deprecated version with a letter.
So not a bug, unfortunately, it’s just Blizzard being asinine.
I do agree that it was a stupid decision to make any changes to the ability to earn, upgrade, and spend crests. I don’t think it’s intentional to allow us to buy something that we can’t use. They needed to either allow us to use the item that we purchased (clutch of _____ harbinger’s crests) and give us the updated crests (my preferred solution) or prevent us from purchasing it in the first place.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we wound up with less gold from the unused clutch of _____ harbinger’s crests than if we hadn’t purchased the item to upgrade crests to begin with. Both clutches of crests in my inventory sold for like 1g. It was so stupid.
Go do world quests and the new content. Get a lot of stones there.
