Just installed WoW, latest Nvidia driver.
My problem is I do not see cooldown text on the actionbar buttons at all. I have tried enabling and disabling the option in the interface menu. Regardless of the setting it does not work.
I downloaded and tried OmniCC, nothing changed.
At the moment all addons are removed for troubleshooting, and the issue persists.
Any ideas?
Hey Sould,
There may be some hidden cvar that was disabled by an addon. Lets try resetting everything to defaults to see if that clears it up. Run this command while in-game
/console cvar_default
Then go back in to the Interface settings and under ActionBars enable “Show Numbers for Cooldowns”

Thank you for the message. I entered the command but see big red letters something worded like “you do not have permission to perform that function”.
Still no text sadly.
Sould,
Did you reset your ui before trying the method above? Usually when we see that kind of behavior, it’s because an addon disabled it. If that addon is still overriding things, it doesn’t matter what you do to default the variables, the addon will set it back the way it was.
You’ll need to remove any addon managers you’re using (twitch/wowmatrix/tukui client/etc) and then try the link above, then retry the command Jambrix sent you and make sure you check the option he mentioned.
You’ll still get that error most likely but it should do what it needs to do. Any luck that way?
Posting on my main.
I created a new folder and copied the (today’s 9-24-19 updated) files to another folder sans the Cache, Interface, and WTF folders. I did the console command. No change as far as I can tell.
Perhaps I just don’t remember correctly but buttons used to show stacks (where appropriate) and time left till end. Say Agony, it would show the remaining time depending on the targeted (and dotted) mob. Or Unstable Affliction which would show two numbers - a small number indicating the stacks and a larger number with the remaining time.
Does this no longer happen? The only thing I can get to work is Haunt. None of the other buttons show anything. I do see an aura at the target but I prefer to see numbers on the action bar buttons.
Thank you.
Hey there Wratho,
The stacks and timers for damage over time spells would have been from an interface addon. There are many different ones for that though so I might hit up our UI and Macro forums, or the Warlock forums, to see what addon other folks are using.
Keep in mind that if any of the action bar items are macros it may not show a cooldown display depending on how many spells are included in the command. For example if there are 3 spells in 1 macro, and only one of them is on cooldown, the display would not happen. This would be a normal occurrence.
I hope the info helps. If there’s anything else you might need just let us know.
Thank you for the reply. I do not have macros for regular spell use, only a couple for addons like random mounts.
OK, so on normal retail with no addons and cool down text enabled (and for a warlock obviously), would affliction and agony show cool down numbers? Currently they do not show anything on the buttons.
Wratho,
Neither of those spells are cooldowns, so no, they wouldn’t show cooldown numbers beyond the quick global cooldown swoosh you get with Agony. Agony’s just an instant spell and Unstable Affliction is a cast spell.
Thank you for the explanation.
