No content/story in Kazan?

One thing I noticed when we got to Undermine is we didn’t see any way to get to, or stories involving, Kazan.

Since they are nearby and it has been at least partially rebuilt (unless I am mistaken?) since Cataclysm I figured the players would get to go there.

My theory is Khaja Coast dailies were a replacement for Kazan.

Any ideas why we didn’t go there?

First wasn’t Kazan all but destroyed by a volcanic eruption back in Cataclysm? I might have missed some lore but I thought it was destroyed and sunk into the sea.

Either way, I do agree it would have been nice to have some mention of it while we were exploring Undermine. For me I just pretend that the other drill machine bay which isn’t active use to go to Kazan but the tunnel is blocked and currently there is not a financial reason to reopen it.

Motherlode dungeon is in Kezan.

And it’s back in the rotation.

Motherlode is in Zuldazar.

Would’ve been cool if TWW went the BfA route and we got separate leveling experiences for Horde and Alliance. Alliance getting Khaz Algar, (Dorne, Ringing Deeps, Hallowfall) and then Horde getting Kezan (Isle of Kezan, Upper Undermine, and Downtown Core).

As it stands for Undermine we only got the downtown core which is really disappointing.

The entrance is in Zuldazar, the dungeon itself takes place on the isle of Kezan.

The silly thing is, if a volcano exploded and destroyed the surface of the island, isn’t Undermine supposed to be underground there? Magma chambers are UNDERNEATH the volcano, so theoretically Undermine would be right in the middle of that and thus gone.

Since it’s not gone, the volcano was likely exaggerated, or didn’t actually erupt and was just Deathwing doing his thing. And everyone panicked and left even though they didn’t need to.

That’s just where the entrance is.

But the dungeon itself takes place in southern Kazan.

See above.

They could have covered half the map in hardened Lava Flows and added some fire Elementals and said that was that.

But to not go there at all when lore wise there has been some rebuilding is quite weird.

Agreed.

I know it’s silly, but it really bothers me that the Undermine map is on the Khaz Algar map and not connected to Kezan.

At the rocket station in Undermine, one of the drill attendants mentions how their drill goes to the upper reaches of the Undermine and they were only in the downtown.

I mentioned above it would’ve been cool to do separate leveling experiences for Horde and Alliance, but they also could have done an Argus style patch for Kezan/Undermine.

Now I just don’t think we’ll ever see them connected.

The way the new streaming tech works (first introduced in Zaralek), zones don’t have to be physically connected in the game world to be able to travel between them seamlessly. So where stuff is physically located in the game files, doesn’t matter anymore. Lore-wise we know Undermine is beneath Kezan, so that’s where it is.

I understand the reasons.

I just don’t like that they’re not currently physically connected when in the lore they are.

It was a creative decision that was made that I don’t agree with.

Nothing wrong with that, just how it is.

Undermine is underneath of Kezan. Crapopolis still exists and a few smaller portions were probably reclaimed, but there is a non-working rocket that may have been the one that went up to Kezan’s surface once upon a time. It’s possible it’s still blocked off. Dunno.

Nope, not all of it.

There’s also apparently several small “pocket” mining towns, like the goblin settlements we see in Ringing Deeps.

Namely, the ones we see after the wall is broken through, with the rocket-drill to Undermine itself.

Many aren’t seen in-game.

It’s funny, all the small races like Dwarves, Gnomes, and Goblins are all masters of subterranean traversal.

Funny enough i’m surprised the lore with Undermine is about Gallywix’s scheme and some instruction manuals. Doesn’t actually explore the lore potential such as the Goblin leader from the second war or Mimiron’s experiments. :scroll::robot:

…although even the Heart Chamber, Mechagon, and Dornogal doesn’t explore what Mimiron did in those places either, it’s just a nitpick. :world_map::robot:

When Mimiron returns, I bet there will be some flavor text with him mentioning Goblins as a byproduct of his experimentation.

We know canonically they were basically pygmies that got spruced up by Kaja’mite.

Even though Gnomes are his direct descendants, Goblins were still owe their creation to Mimiron as well.

And yeah, even though this is a very “Titan-themed” expansion, they’re woefully absent.

Probably cooking up something for future expansions when we do see them again.

Especially when they’re dipping the titans as something sinister going on. Yet, Dornic is shattered into pieces and the Machine Speakers are void corrupted. :robot::thought_balloon:

edit: Easy to miss detail, Dornic’s actual battle from the theater happened on the Gurloc island of The Three Shields. You can interact with his arm. :world_map::robot:

Would be interesting if Dornic had a backup body or something like the Earthen do, and he’s the actual ‘final’ boss of TWW.

Just speculation on my part. There could’ve been Dornic loyalists.
