If we are playing the same game then that’s actual insanity. Tired of getting told by people that I should be playing a “good healer” instead. Would like to take a break from the game but I feel obligated to login for conquest cap at minimum. Not much else to say but it’s frustrating to say the least.

That’s not completely true, it’s just that the stigma is completely against us and no one will invite but you can play anything in anything.
Also it doesn’t help that everyone trying to play RShaman for keys are 100% playing the wrong talent builds and not understanding what needs to be pressed.
The wowhead and icyveins talent trees are just wrong reddit crap

Where have you been finding builds? I’ve given up on WoW head and Icy veins and started looking at the Discord shaman communities.

I do think Resto Shamans need a bit of a buff, but I do think the design of the class is in a sensitive balance right now.
Blizzard did ele shaman perfectly where there are a lol of diverse viable builds.
Resto feels a bit pigeon held right now, or at least there are less people experimenting. I think underused talents probably need buffs/reworks.
Biggest issue is the evoker class took our healing role niche. In order to addres that, in my opinion, resto shaman need an extra utility.
In the past we had the only interrupt and Hero for a healing class… now no more.
I don’t think we need more utility, seems like there’s a ton of buttons to press already and I don’t think any resto shaman has leftover talent points they’d like to spare. They really need to make some stuff baseline.
I disagree. More utility does not mean more buttons, as I agree, we have way too many.
The Evoker and other updates took what made the shaman different. Shaman used to have the only healing interupt and only lust. Used to be the best AOE healing for close raid groups, not anymore(evoker took it). Used to have decent mobility while healing… evoker outclasses us again. There is almost nothing that makes the resto shaman stand out whatsoever.
Only thing I can think of is our mana recovery abilities… but I suspect they can’t buff that too much.
Then what sort of new, unused, utility are you proposing?
A Raid buff? Buffing the mana totem? Give Windshear totem a cast speed/range attack speed buff? Just a few random ideas.
Unless you simply want shaman to be a throughput healer… but that in my opinion is not a good place to be because you are directly competition with Evoker, Holy Priest, Resto Druids, and Mist Weaver Monks for that role.
Resto Shamans in the past were brought for their utility, not throughput.
That is true, but throughput in Dragonflight is more important then ever, look at all the Top Healing specs in all forms of content, Utility aside, They all have insane healing throughput.
That’s what’s making them must picks especially in higher end content.
A Raid/Group buff wouldn’t help, every Raid/group buff is tied to the class not the spec, they’ll just grab Enhance/Ele which is doing fairly well over Resto.
Restoration Shaman shaman is in a poor state due to the fact our healing isn’t good enough, stack mechanics are to few and far, Even in Raids where We should excel we don’t. Half our kit requires the group to be within small areas, which isn’t viable anymore.
Range kick means nothing anymore, Druids and Holy Priests don’t have one and performing better. So many classes bring Lust, we only can Brez ourselves on a ridiculously long cd.
Our class isn’t designed for Dragonflight. We either need to bring insane healing to compete or we will be left in the dust.
If that is what you are asking for, I fear nothing will change. You will just be flavor of the month throughput healer.
I’m being realistic, outside of a massive overhaul which won’t happen during an expansion, realistically what can they do?, it’s all going to be Band-Aid fixes. This Band-Aid fix will atleast let us be viable and get picked in content.
Like I said a raid/group buff will mean nothing, they’ll just take enhance or Ele, they get the group buff, ranged kick and lust, it will change nothing for Resto.
It definitely won’t make us flavour of the month, more make us competitive with Druids, Priests, Paladins and Evokers, surely 4 healing specs can’t be all flavours of the month out of 7.
He brings up some pretty valid points. It really doesn’t matter how good the utility is if the throughput is poop. Lets say they took mark of the wild from druids and let shamans have a raid wide 3% vers buff. I certainly doubt that would be enough to tip the scales to shamans being preferred over others.
I’m all for having more choices and more things but I think maybe some QoL changes and some throughput buffs and i’d be content.
Rerolled to evoker and oh my god is it night and day. I have the most powerful external, the most powerful raid heal, insane healing, insane dps, insanes personals (like, 3 different ones), insane passive dps, list, a (mediocre) raid buff, a great mana buff for my fellow healers (mana spring is disgusting lmao). Oh forgot that my mobility is also insane and can cast while moving every 30 seconds instead of 2 mins.
Shaman is the 1st stage evolution, Evoker is the fully evolved pokemon. Rsham is a literal joke.
The issue is, Resto Shaman is outdated. Our skills and abilities are not designed for WoW anymore and need to be adjusted.
Have a look at our cool-downs,
- Ascendence 3 min.
- Spirit Link 3 min.
- Healing Tide Totem 3 min an heals barely heals.
- no ability for Tanks besides Earth shield.
Now let’s look at the 2 most competitive Healers Druid and Evoker cool-downs. I’ll be here forever if I add Holy Priests and Paladins.
Druid,
- Tranquillity 2 min
- Convoke 1 min
- Flourish 1.5 min
- Heart of the Wild 5 min.
- ironbark for Tanks 1.1min
Evoker,
- Rewind 4 min.
- Emerald Communion 3 min.
- Stasis 2 min.
- for Tanks Time Dilation 1 min.
Not to mention both Healing is a lot stronger.
What they need to do is seriously Buff Resto Shamans healing to firstly compete with other healers.
- Healing Aura buff 10%
- Riptide has 2 charges baseline, 3 when talented.
- Healing Rain heals for 30% more with Targets that have riptide on them.
- Acid Rain needs a huge buff in damage.
- Undulation should be every 3rd healing wave or healing surge be 75%
- Water Shield should 100% be baseline.
- Living Stream should be 15-20% each tick.
- Earthliving needs to be buffed.
- Flow of Tides shouldn’t consume riptide, just reduce its healing down to 20%
- Earth Shield should also give a passive 10% DR on the Tank, (We need a reason to be brought to groups and a Tank ability) giving a Tank a passive 10% DR would be our niche.
- Ascendence down to 2 min.
- Spirit Walkers Grace down to 1 min.
Even if my Dream changes happened I don’t even think it still would compete as most our kit requires close stacked groups while other healers don’t.
I don’t really agree that our throughput is THAT bad. From what I understand we are the 3rd best in throughput for raids.
The problem is that we are outclassed in what we can bring to a raid or group. Evoker does everything we do better.
They even nerfed our windfury totem… Druid roar is now better. Every bit of unique utility we had is gone.
