No blood effects?

Are we missing an entire feature right now? Where’s the blood?

Here’s a great video comparing beta versus the 1.12 client’s blood and glow effects. We demand blood!

Note that this animation is purely client side, so private servers are reliable in this case.

Edit: Here’s further proof that it was in the game. Scroll to the bottom and you’ll see it was added in 1.6 or around then.

Seeing blood spurts on critical hits is incredibly satisfying and not having this feature is a bad move.

I agree, you will be hitting and getting hit a lot in Classic, so having this adds some flavor and makes hits feel more powerful!

Because there are Chinese players in the beta and the Chinese government doesn’t allow Blood effects. Maybe they’ll turn them on once it’s launched since we’ll have regional servers then.

I don’t think so, since they aren’t allowed to see bones on their client either, yet on the beta you can see corpse skeletons and bones on the forsaken model.

Use ` (character below the ~) to make it preformatted text.

Makes it easier to copy.

I don’t see much point in linking a private server. The only question that matters is what it was like in Vanilla. If there was blood then, it should be in Classic.

There was 100% blood.

Well, let’s see a Vanilla video that shows it. That one in the Reddit thread is from 2009 and it looks like it’s from the warrior ability anyway.

I’m watching Vanilla videos on youtube and I don’t see blood. Granted the quality isn’t great though.

“There will be blood!”

Here ya go, full vid of blood everywhere.

There was a console command for it /console violencelevel or something that was set at 2 by default and could be turned up. So it makes sense why some people think it didn’t exist.

If you’re in the Beta, try the following commands in game:

/console violenceLevel 5
/console reloadui

And then test how much blood there is.

I agree that it’s hard to spot in Vanilla videos, but here’s some proof that it was in the game.

That video was uploaded in 2009. Is it a re-upload? But timestamp an auto-attack blood shot. Not rend, or execute or some warrior ability that might be causing it.

I’m not saying it didn’t exist. I’d just like visible proof from Vanilla.

Seriously? Just watch the entire video FFS. You don’t know who Maydie was?

Here’s a popular one from Grim as well, you can definitely see blood spurts.
