I don’t understand why BGs were disabled. Is Blizzard no longer capable of thinking?
You simply make it so when you would be ‘killed’ by a hit, you instead have a Divine Intervention trigger on you and are whisked to the nearest friendly grave yard. OR, since it might cause a bit of trouble if the GY is camped, you are whisked to the ‘home base’ graveyard (really just applies to AB and AV).
WSG would be the only one that really needs redesigned. As for AB and AV, you simply close the gate and make a portal to click on that function similar to how the portal pads in Wintergrasp work (no load screen).
For WSG…maybe make use of the cave that has the red ‘instance portal effect’. Remove the zone-out trigger and use it as the ‘home base’ GY instead of the current location. Seems the easiest change.
Bingo-bango. BGs are now back and so are the PVP Titles and Gear.
At the very least. My idea is better than just removing content from the game because “it hard to change to match new ruleset”.
They should have just let you queue normally, imo. Though, there’d be a lot of threads on the forums about dead characters and not knowing that BG deaths counted as deaths.
As they’ve demonstrated with the “boosting nerfs” They could adjust the XP gained. And realistically…the XP gain is nothing. – I’m pretty sure the only gains are from the non-repeatables. So that would be…Armor, BG Boss (Ivus, Rok), Medals, Lost Gryphon/Wyreven Riders, Mine Supplies…maybe a few other’s that have an ‘initial quest’ (yellow “!”) and then the follow ups are the blue “?”.
…I’d say, all in all, it might equate to half a level if done at 52.
I’m not playing HC, but that doesn’t mean I can’t think for Blizzard. I cannot fathom why you would want content stripped from the game when a solution exists.
I never said I was. Blizzard was the one that did. They specifically said they removed them because they would be played “defensively” due to the perma death nature of HC. That’s the sole reason. They didn’t want the players dying a lot, I guess (???). I offer a solution. Blizzard offered laziness.
the HC challenge is an out in the world leveling challenge, not sitting in bgs instances gaining xp, could work I suppose if they simply gave 0 xp for bgs or gear.
It’s easy to be the ‘ideas guy’. Everyone else can take care of the work.
My understanding is that Blizzard intentionally went down this route to preserve the integrity and atmosphere of the server. If you want BGs, you can still do them in form of wargames - you’ll just get no rewards, and death is permanent. As it should be.
It’s a solution looking for a problem. A very small number of players care about the lack of BGs in HC.
It would probably be a nice touch for them to add the battlegrounds. But they seem to be unable to. Probably due to limited time and resources and personnel.
Considering BGs take place in a cross-realm instance, it would probably be very easy for Blizz to implement a solution where HC servers are linked but deaths in BGs “don’t count”. It’s just that this would be counter-intuitive to the purpose of having HC servers.
I get why they didn’t add them in, but ultimately I think that there are creative ways they could implement them as well.
Such as everyone in BGs having 1 “life” where when they are “killed” it’s like losing a duel and they are eliminated from the BG. BGs won’t last very long this way though as one side will likely lose to attrition.
Or just creating an RP reason where defeat sends you to a first aid tent where you are bandaged up.
They stated in the Dev video that they didn’t want to do anything of the sort because it would turn all BGs into a defensive play style where both sides might wait for the other to attack, when none of them will attack.
Meh, add in a draw feature where if no one is attacking the BG ends with no victor.
Realistically it doesn’t make sense to award EXP in a no death situation so the only people doing it would be people who want to have fun in BGs. You’d only be playing yourself if you just did big turtles on either side.
