No Beta. Don't need it. Release the game already

Without a beta expect a bug-ridden mess that won’t live up to people’s high expectations of Blizzard quality.

The lack of quality control from no beta could cause lasting harm to Blizzard’s reputation. Such a reputation might stay with them and affect other games, not just Classic.

Best to play it safe and have a beta. It works for their other games and should be just fine for Classic.

If you’re worried about “burning out” playing the beta. Just DON’T PLAY THE BETA!

I wish it was out tomorrow but even summer is not til mid June. I am ok with a 1 month or so 20 limit beta if the wait will be that long.

You sure are rude considering your counterpoint was “what about any expansion ever??” Lol. Real good. Maybe hop down off the horse before the lack of air gets to you even more.

Some people are born just to try to prove others wrong.

And some people are born without the ability to use new forums right. doh

Speaking the truth is not rude new guy. Speaking truth is tough love, which is the only real love.

But muh addons, bruh!

Meh.
I’ve played in every beta except BC and they all had broken quests, dungeons, and glitches that stopped progress at various points.

At the least, the betas sorted out most progress blockages before release. Seems like simple due diligence for a software company to do a beta.

Such a good point.

Don’t play the beta.

A short beta for testing macros on the modified API and addon development would be nice.

Because things always work exactly like they’re documented to.

Easily hot fixed or patched. The game will be fine if some random api doesn’t work exactly as intended.

I feel like the Blizzcon Beta was the beta. We’re a little over 2 months from Summer - surely the game will just come out without a hitch. If there were a Beta, I’d expect that to happen real soon.

I think it’s going to be a short beta, it’ll basically be once they’re in a “polish phase” of the development cycle where they’re deciding on the final items in regards to certain Classic vs Retail Client differences. With an end-goal of (presumably) July, I imagine they’re getting close to that point now.

In some respects I’d like a longer beta as it gives the more dedicated a chance to try to push through the full leveling curve and provide feedback the whole way, but requires time to do it in. But in most other respects, I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t have a beta before sometime in May or the start of June.

Boy this post made me tired. Are you tired? I know I am. I think I’ll take a nap. Maybe you should take a nap too. Boy am I tired.

There’s some tin foil hat stuff going on here but I’m gonna go ahead and support this thread anyway since “Release the game already” is in the title.

I’m fine with a beta in a very limited way. If they released a Beta for a weekend or a week, I would be on bored but I 100% agree that releasing a month+ long beta would take some of the shine off the game.

If they were to release the beta how would we test for authenticity? With photographic memory? Beta will not help a single futch and will only give the team a massive pile of :poop: to work with.

I’d be down to skip the beta if it means a release 2 months earlier.

So is it just, like, mythology now that betas are for testing the game for bugs and other issues, and not just a chance to play early?

“Just a short beta to 20.” Because there couldn’t possibly be issues that need to be fixed in Zul’farrak, or Hinterlands, or Sunken Temple? Just for example.

And I bet these people would be the first to scream about Blizzard releasing a buggy game if, say, the Mallet questline is broken.
