Nitro Boosts Glitch?

You know the Nitro Boosts Tinker for Engineers from Lich King?

Well on both my alliance and horde engineers, perhaps 1 out of 100 times, the boosts don’t propel me forward and seem to get me stuck in the ground and set me on fire and kill or almost kill me if I don’t use a potion.

Another, perhaps 1 in 100 times, the boosts shoot me 30-40 feet vertically in the air and kill me on the fall.

This is a very old expansion, and I would expect glitches like this to be ironed out after a decade.

Anybody else experience this or have any idea what’s going on?
It’s not often, but it’s annoying when it does happen.

Why — like as a Blizzard prank?

The same way they have a random mage sneak up and polymorph you every so often?

Back in the day the trade off for the powerful effects of engineering stuff was that it had the chance of backfiring on you.

A lot of old engineering items have a chance to do something like this.

It’s part of the design intent for Engineering. We get these incredibly useful devices that can sometimes backfire in hilarious and/or deadly ways.
