I’d have to pay more attention to see specifically what is triggering it, but sometimes it will pop up two “Nil” errors in a row in the middle of the screen where you’d see other error messages like “You cannot attack that target” in red text.
This is on a 100% fresh reinstall, old folder deleted before reinstalling, no addons, /console cvar_default client, just to rule everything out.
EDIT: Checking through the errors log, it might be tied to this:

I’ve been getting this as well, I noticed it after I had to reset my settings to get the camera to work properly again.

I’ve been getting this for a little while as well and I have no idea how to make it stop, originally I thought it was a weak aura that was old but nope
I’ve been seeing them since launch, I assumed it would have been addressed by now. I’ve played with and without add-ons installed and still get them.
I just logged onto my main and it was nil nil nil down the upper center of the screen as valdraken loaded
This appears to be still happening after various updates/patches.
I’ve reinstalled, have no add-ons, and seemingly – happens on any character in my roster.
Mostly out of concern as to WHY red text would prompt like this, more than announance. None the less, perhaps some messaging on the why would be helpful so it’s not just ‘accepted’ and ignored.
Cheers, happy holidays and all that.
Nearly never post on these Forums, but – this was:
On WoW – not Classic, don’t let the player icon fool you.
I have done the Alliance side Tutorial/Newbie Zone (not Horde side though, in case that matters?)
Happens on any Horde side character; maybe(?) when in or around Vald city of the Dragons.
I cannot find a proper reason when/where, though moving through maps seems to trigger it, and/or getting onto a Dragon Riding mount.
Wrote CS on this, they suggested the Interface reset steps, which did / have not helped.
Interface, Cache and WTF rebuilds.
Yeah I saw it just a couple nights ago doing some testing on the PTR. It’s probably just a really low priority issue and likely doesn’t actually bother the game in any way. Still kind of annoying though.
