What 8 dungeons would you pick to create the worst M+ season possible?
Tol dagor, Seat of the Triumvirate, Slave pens
Using only post wrath dungeons
Tol’Dagor
End Time (Completely Linear)
King’s Rest
Shrine of the Storms
Sanguine Depths
Seat of the Triumvirate
Scholomance (MoP)
Assault on the Violet Hold
I feel like End Time wouldn’t even be that “bad” because it would be the “Maw of Souls” of the season being the shortest dungeon by far even if it was harder (Maw wasn’t exactly easy).
The biggest issue with the dungeon is it would have to work like old Freehold and be on some sort of cycle week by week.
End time has no avoidable trash, every boss is stuck behind a timegated RP event. That’s what makes it terrible.
Azure Vault, all 8 dungeons
Count would dictate what you have to kill more than anything. You can trigger Jaina and Baine without pulling a single trash pack.
Oh I’d force Baine Tyrande Sylvanas Morazond
I thought this was a thread about D4 and the OP was lost
I don’t understand the issue people have with violet hold.
It’s super short. If they adjust the rp and give you the option to skip times on the trash packs that would be a dream. You don’t spend half the timer walking. Only three trash packs before each boss…
Sure it needs a few updates for the built in timers but overall the shorter a m+ the absolute better.
Shrine of the storms would be one of the absolute worst.
It completely removes routing from the equation.
But why is that a bad thing? I would think tanks would love not having to follow a certain path and rely on everyone knowing that path. Kill the trash kill the boss repeat for 15 minutes and done.
Is the complaint that it would be too easy?
Every trash pull is also a fixed size, there is no creativity or decision making. You just pull the pack, kill it, spawn the next, kill it, over and over.
There’s no variability at all. You’re just standing there waiting for a lot of the dungeon.
Blackrock Depths is the only dungeon, and you have to complete it 8 times killing every single boss for maximum rewards.
- Violet Hold
- Stonecore
- Skyreach
- TD
- Grimrail Depot
- Kings’ Rest
Fill in another random Cata dungeon for 7 & 8
I still remember doing Stonecore in Cata. Dear god. You’d think it was people’s first time dodging mechanics
I guess we’re just different kinds of players lol. I’ll take boring and short for 18s lol. I’ll do the involved stuff when I’m raiding.
As for op here’s my list…
1 black rock depths
2 shadow labyrinth
3 the oculus
4 siege of niuzao temple
5 eye of azshara
6 shrine of the storm
7 temple of sethraliss
8 De other side
That last one is mainly because you just have to know how to do that last boss and pugs really dislike being prepared and wiping and burning a key on the last boss just isn’t fun.
Tol Dagor
King’s Rest
Siege of Boralus
Shadow-Pan Monastery/Vortex Pinnacle
The Shattered Halls
The Arcatraz
Halls of Stone
Halls of Lightning
There are others that would be annoying. Sanguine Depths was either fun or terrible simply depending on the group, due to every area of that place being cramped. Halls of Infusion is another stinker due to the length. Vortex Pinnacle is awful.
For my list, its basically any long dungeon that just has too much trash and travel time.
- Seat of the Triumvirate
- Siege of Boralus
(lol if the rumors are true)
Borrowing from non-M+ expansions:
- Black Morass (mostly because of the timer on a wipe)
- Gate of the Setting Sun (it’s a buggy mess and coordinating 2 dps to down P1 of the last boss is meh)
- Upper Blackrock Spire (Ragewind with affixes gives me the willies)
- Trial of the Champion (Jousting + timer = nightmare fuel)
- Halls of Origination (I think I’ve done it ONCE and it was a cluster)
- Sunken Temple but hear me out: the Classic version with the puzzle.
Yeah I mean I am typically playing well above title range (3500~) so a lot of my enjoyment from M+ comes from finding way to push and optimise it. A large part of that is combining pulls to save time and I play at a level where that is necessary.
The balance of a completely linear dungeon with no shortcutting / combining pulls seems like an utter nightmare as you have no ability to save time in the face of significantly higher health pools as the key level increases.
