So I finally unlocked Nightborne as such I think it needs to be half as long as it is. Thankfully the recruitment scenario is short. But it’s so abusively long that I don’t even want to play this character anymore. My drive is gone completely. So whomever coded that process you know how to make people want to unsub. That’s talent.
I know a lot of people are going to make fun of me as they do, but I felt the need to air my grievances.
Have a good day y’all.

I guarantee you will be back with the same attitude for Kul Tirans. Took forever and then you have to build them a boat. I wanted to punch my screen.

Back in my day the only unlocking I had to do for a character was standing in line at Gamestop for MoP.

I’m fine with having to unlock them if they are like how Highmountain was. With Nightborne I was sure I was done with it like 4 days before I actually was.
I wish you had to do it back when it was an actual grind.

Honestly I’m not far off of Exalted so it might as well be the same. Since that was the only thing they removed was the reputation right?
It was gated as well. You got stopped at every threshold and had to get to the next one so it was way longer. I’m not a fan of the idea of allied races in general and more agree with Buttercleave.

I think my issue is I like them more then the normal races. I’d rather just start out with them unlocked so I can just play whatever I wanted to. It’s too much friction. But if the unlock makes sense I will still do it.
Honestly with the first set of allied races being around for what, nearly 3 expansions, and the rest being almost an expansion old, I think it’s just time to open them up. If it’s your first character, the allied race starts at level one, and use the recruitment scenario to show how and why they joined. The scenarios are already there, just tweak the dungeon parts to behave like a scenario.

That sounds better. My only issue was just it was so damn long that by the time I got there I was eyeing the unsubscribe page. Highmountain was way better in terms of pace to do it.
I’m joking about the unsubscribe thing, but it’s very stressful to think your done and your boss to drop another 50 pages on you.
At least Oculeth and Su’esh were fun.

Horde are soft. Mechagnome and kt unlocks were much much worse.

Why back in my day we had a reputation requirement too sonny.
In any case though congratulations on your new Nightborne DK. Quite a beautiful moe you are rocking!

unlocked Nightborne on current time frame vs back when it as introduced is far easier and faster. I can only imagine your complaints back when we all were stuck doing 1 part per week, where as now a days you can unlock the race in a few days at most.

I dunno, I thought the Mechagnomes were pretty easy. I got them almost by accident while I was going through and collecting all the pets & mounts from the Island. I was looking at the requirements and noticed that I only needed to do the dungeon, so I did. Twice actually, because the first time I forgot to pick up the quest that you actually need to do, not just killing the end boss.
For me, Nightborne was by far the worst one. I did it just before SL launch and going around Suramar City with no flying was a freakin’ nightmare. Vulpera were pretty easy. Highmountain were “easy” but pretty annoying. The Wowhead guide said, “Do these things and then complete the (Whatever) quest chain.” They didn’t say that the quest chain was 50 flingin’ flangin’ steps long. Every time I thought I was done it was, “Nope, here’s another place you have to go.”
I also unlocked the LF Dranoodles, and doubt I’ll ever get around to unlocking any of the others because of the annoyance factor.

I already had flight and did that one thing for the mount and then just did lfr I think. So the unlock was pee easy. I guess if you didn’t actually play legion it was rough.
I had to get everything to friendly to unlock world quests etc. The most annoying part was when I assumed I was going to be done opened up and had way more stuff to do as well. It was just like content whiplash.

I get that then. I played both expansions most of the way through when they were current. Had all pre reqs done mostly before I needed to. Can see it’d be rough not having it done.

Nah it’s not, at lvl 60 with flying was quite fast. BFA flying is the real problem.
