It feels like the Nightborne were left high and dry for customization options for S.L. The changes are minimal compared to even the night elf comparisons.
Nightborne can’t even do the special animation jump of night elves or be gifted an elegant or unique substitute.
I suppose it was a promotional race but not intended to be used for long term race customization given the lack of attention they have received.
Personally, I think Nightborne need a lot more than just customization but I am curious, given your current mog, why you want customizations as no one would see them?
How about giving them optional features pushing them more to the Withered side of things? I mean, sure, you can make a nice pretty elf if that’s what you want (like all the other ones), or you could show more and more signs of succumbing to mana addiction. While you wouldn’t be able to just make a Withered exactly like the npcs (they’re basically feral anyway), you could get close.
It’d be optional, it’d be distinct for this race alone, and it would tie in with their lore and in-game storyline.
The primary customization update is focused on core races, allied races are getting updated later.
The only stuff Blizz is doing for ARs in the first push is splitting options where possible (eye colors, jewelry, beard/mustache), adding a handful of eye colors (which I’d imagine requires very little work with the framework already done), and copy/pasting a few things shared with core races where they both make sense and require next to no work to do (orc tusks, VE skin tones, the latter working only because VEs and BEs are literally the same model).
Nightborne will hopefully get theirs when Blizz does a proper pass on the ARs.
Even if changes should come down the line, I don’t have any faith in Blizzard to improve the Nightborne to the degree they require. These would be massive changes, not just cosmetic customizations you can slap on and call it a day. I honestly don’t think they care enough to fix the sub-par work they rushed to release.
Zandalari were originally announced as an allied race at BlizzCon 2017 (November 3rd, 2017), at which point the developers’ intention was to make them available alongside Dark Iron dwarves at the release of Battle for Azeroth.
I can only imagine how atrocious Zandalari would be if they didn’t delay their release and pulled out another rush-job.
in every thread about this, i will always chime in with what is actually needed first.
blizzard needs to understand that they can’t just swoop in with some new face options. nightborne must be changed from the ground up to look like the npcs with squinty eyes, NO big wide eyes available AT ALL.
