Nightborne Demon Hunters—Why the Exclusion?

Did Blizzard really skip implementing Nightborne DHs because it “does NOT make sense lore-wise at the moment” (which sounds like a cheap excuse to me), or is it just that they couldn’t copy-paste Night Elf DH customizations onto the Nightborne? (Based on datamining, it looks like they literally did just that, they copy-pasted Blood Elf DH customizations onto Void Elves without even adjusting the skins to match the Void Elf aesthetic.)

You want lore? Your own lore states:

“Other races can become demon hunters, but such individuals are unheard of. Any member of another race who is willing to make the sacrifices necessary to join the fight against the demonic invaders must find a Night Elf or Blood Elf demon hunter to assist them in the initiation ceremonies.”

So, the Void Elves can learn the path of the DH from Adarus, a Blood Elf. But the Nightborne, who are practically Blood Elven “cousins” now, suddenly cannot?

I know the recent book series mentions that fel users are not welcomed in Suramar, but it also states that Demon Hunters are an “exception” because Thalyssra respects them. That makes the exclusion even harder to justify.

If Alliance gets Thalassian DHs, the Horde deserves Darnassian DHs as well. Nightborne DHs would not only make sense, they would also bolster the population of this beautiful race.

Thank you.

PS: Dear Allaince players, please don’t come at me with “The Horde has more druid races than the Alliance" 2 Trolls, 2 Tauren, such great variety. 10/10.

Please do NOT claim that the Nightborne cannot use void magic, do you want to say that the Void Elves only can choose Devourer spec? Of course not.

Also, I don’t understand why I even have to make this thread when we already have Tauren Rogues, Night Elf mages, and LFD Warlocks.

I ask though, why do you need nightborne to be dh?

Previous wrongs dont justify continously making the same mistakes

Don’t Horde have more Druid races?

The most important aspect here is that there is no lore behind it. They have been adamant about the lore aspect when it comes to this class. Now it might be an excuse not to bother to rig the rest of the models to the DH animations, or they might really mean it, they want to respect the class lore. Kind of hard to believe when they gave the DK class to fox things and gnomes, but yeah, maybe this is the exception.
That being said, NB elves didn’t go through the training offered by Illidan since they were behind their magic bubble at the time. There’s also no real reason to infect their souls with a damned demon, right? The velfs are in another situation, I don’t think that putting a demon in them is much of a change given there’s already someone living in their nogging so who knows, the more the merrier. If that is really how it works. On the other hand you could have belf demon hunters taking the void koolaid and turning themselves velfs. Either way. It makes sense for velfs, not so much for NB.

And shamam races , horde has a race that can be paladim shamam druid while the alliamce doesnt

Why are they looking for “balance” now?

So for Voidemos and Nightborne Demon hunters, it’s the time.

Technically it doesn’t. But given all their close contact with demons during legion and their knack for different kinds of magic it wouldn’t be hard to write some lore for it. It’s exactly what they did for void elves.

Current/past lore is never the reason for race/class combos or lack thereof. If they want a certain combo, they make it, and adjust the lore accordingly. If they don’t want a certain combo right now, they don’t make it.

The answer has nothing to do with “lore”, in fact lore is always the weakest reason not to add something. The answer is the void elf demon hunter is a literal copy of the blood elf demon hunter one.

Please, this is Blizzard you’re talking about.

The most important aspect here is model/animation compatibility. Nothing else.

Horde is gonna get another DH race later.

/thread.

Rather not. If they are gonna treat it like a major feature. I’d rather see new classes and races.

I actually have a suspicion that the horde will actually get a non elf demon hunter. I base this on nothing.

Hordies, especially belfers, excel at whining whenever there is a tiny imbalance towards the Alliance, but when it comes to Horde favoritism, they turn a blind eye.

Likely because nobody plays them? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a nightborne.

We are. Haranir are coming.

Oooh spoicy take. I think I agree. My point was basically just pointing at them saying ‘look we know there is a discrepancy there will be a reason for Horde races to be DH later on’ which isn’t addressed in OPs rant.

Fair take here. I don’t see the crowds barking out for Mechagnome druids even tho they’d rock.

Should have specified, races that are both reasonable and highly requested (example - ogres/vrykul).

Perhaps because I, like many others, like the Nightborne race, and the DH class?

Did you read the post? Their lore states other races can become Demon Hunters, but for that they must find a Night elf or a Blood elf who is willing to train them.

You really think the Ren’dorei were taught to be become Demon Hunters by Illidan?

2 trolls 2 Tauren and a goblin. Such a variety. 10/10.

Yeah, sure. Let’s remember the Nightelven threads from BFA to DF.

That is what I exactly said, perhaps giving the DHs would make the Nightborne population higher than it is at the moment.

Or … they have other plans for the Nightborne … another class …

I wish.

The Nightborne Druids should have been a thing long time ago.
