Personal opinion of course, but I really dislike how the two versions of the NB heritage armor differs (I always have) I think its not unique in that its a problem that a lot of wow armors have where it will show up as showing more skin on the female model of what ever race you’re playing and then guys get long robes period.
I appreciated the VE heritage armor so much its one of if not my favorite heritage in game because there’s a consistency in letting it basically be a crop top for both guys and girls, which kind of is unique in the game in terms of so many (I mean I’m hard pressed to name any besides the VE heritage) that doesn’t turn into monk robes for guys, and I would have hoped that it was a step in the right direction for newer armors… then the NB heritage went back to doing the same old problem / issue which is disheartening imo.
It was an odd choice for sure, especially considering most male Nightborne NPCs we’ve seen wear clothing that is even more skin revealing than just exposed midriff.
I added another image to the male Nightborne section - an image of the super low-resolution hair decoration on the “Short Tail” hairstyle. In the image I posted, it actually looks less offensive than it does in-game.
If it were a really complex design, I’d excuse its low-res appearance, but it could not be more basic of a hair decoration. Yikes.
I know this is a dusty topic, but if anyone has anything they feel should be added to the OP, let me know!
Explanation: Prior to editing, Maizou mistakenly claimed Thalyssra had a unique model.
@Maizou - Thalyssra technically doesn’t have a unique model, it’s actually a color variation of the generic Nightborne Sage NPC mob found in the open-world version of The Nighthold at the Shal’dorei Terrace.
Thalyssra was assigned a color variation of a generic mob you can kill in the open world. How’s that for immersion breaking?
The Nightborne are definitely missing a lot of things, as are many of the allied races. I hope going forward the dev team at least considers the feedback from the players when making their design choices.
On the topic of the withered, I agree that a pale skin tone in that vein would be amazing. Honestly, I wouldn’t even be mad at having body markings similar to way that they do. It’s kind of creepy how the arcane runes are literally etched into the Nightborne’s flesh, even when they’re deprived of arcane energy.
A model edit of Thalyssra by PechkaNSFW on Twitter. The hair and face are actual perfection and I’d die to have this option on the playable Nightborne even thought this was meant for Thalyssra.
What I meant to say is that the quality of the hairstyle featured in that fan-made model is far and away greater than any of the hairstyles we currently have. So many of them lack definition and are pretty poor in quality and appearance.
Yes Blizzard has really dropped the ball on our hairstyle quality and I suppose there is little reason to expect they’ll do it better with a longer hairstyle like that too.
They really need to go through and make all the hair textures up to par with one another.
Nightborne and Blood Elf hair textures are the most noticeable for me.
I’d just appreciate having the option for slightly thicker Night Elf Models for Nightborne as an option, or at the very least give us the cool Night Elf Messy/Leaf Hair for Nightborne.
Would that make sense for the Nightborne, though? The Night Elves physique is the result of several millennia’s worth of hardship and climbing around in trees, to which the Nightborne just can’t relate.
Thalryssa is a lot thicker, so it would make sense, especially at this point in time that a lot of them are rebuilding back muscle growth or taking in more arcane energies to restore their bodies to a more completed state. They were Night Elf too after all at one point.
Its less about the lore implications, which are always nice, but more customization isn’t going to hurt the game by any means and it should at least be an added option for those that want it. Same with Belf players that want Velf hairstyles (without the tentacles) for instance. There is a lot they could do in terms of customization for all the races all around that they just haven’t done ultimately, despite it being seemingly a rather easy thing to just include.
I do really love this take on nb tattoos, would be a super cool option aside from the glowing arcane tattoos.
The picture you posted of the concept art is absolutely stunning as well. I really love the hairstyle and how the arcane accents come down in the front, the transmog really compliments the tattoos and I hope they do end up adding the nightborne npc attire as additional heritage armor options (although I wouldn’t mind them to be added to the general xmog as well for everyone to use- it just might look slightly out of place for other races)
I just love the bare feet/gloves on that set, it just fits so well where most transmogs in game can’t quite do that.
