Nightborne Classes and Racials

Spent some time unlocking Nightborne over the past few days and I got it done recently. In looking on which classes to use I keep reading both that the racials are bad and the 1% damage doesn’t scale or something along those lines. On the other hand, some people are saying the 1% doesn’t apply to just magical damage but all damage.

Is it true that the 1% damage doesn’t scale well like some may be saying or is it a weaker type of benefit?

And, for the 1% damage regardless of magic; I have noticed people leveling Nightborne Warriors and Hunters and I thought it was odd considering they were not magic users-ish. So I’m confused on exactly what is correct. Is any of this correct?

Just make a WW monk, like me. That way you don’t have to think about the racial because you get zero benefit from it. Just look at me and my big brain.

It does scale poorly but the actual difference is negligible unless you’re intending to min/max. Hence why you see Warrior/Hunter.

I don’t know, I play warrior because I like all 3 specs of the class and swap depending on my mood.

I liked Night elves because for a long time they were the closest thing this game had to Dark elves so when the Nightborne came out, it was a natural fit.
Being Horde took some adjustment but it’s fine.

As far as the racials go, I don’t really care, I’m not bleeding edge anything so it was not even a consideration.

Play what you love, don’t let the game decide what to play.

But seriously, our racials are pretty butt. +1% magic damage is, you know, better than a kick in the teeth, (unless you don’t do magic damage). -1% damage from arcane (shrug emoji). I keep forgetting we can summon a mailbox. And Arcane Pulse is just for doing this:

#showtooltip Arcane Pulse
/script s={“An illusion! What are you hiding?”,“Who goes there?”,“Something’s not quite right.”};SendChatMessage(s[random(1,3)], “SAY”)
/cast Arcane Pulse

But now we have a toy that does it better so might as well take it off the ol’ bar (maybe it’s good for PvP or something? From what I’ve seen, there’s always something better to press than Arcane Pulse). And last of all we get a bonus to LOL Inscription, Blizzard’s least loved child.

So, play a Nightborne because you like them. I got a couple now. But if it’s all about the racials pick just about any other race.

Nightborne will never be the best choice for any class or spec, in PvP or PvE. Other races have better damage, or better utility, which is more important than a small amount of damage. Goblins are nice.

Unless you play at a high level, it doesn’t matter. You might consider getting a race change if you do.

Whoops. Maybe I was thinking about our heritage armor.

i pick nightborne solely becuz of its look.
I have a few times switched to Zandalari Troll, Troll, Orc, Tauren, sorry, i always regret after a while. The minimal racial benefits dont keep me.

The look does.

I wish nightborn didn’t look like they were always looking up… they’d be such a great looking race if that was fixed :frowning:

I play prot warrior, the magical damage reduction is little plus, aoe slow and aoe damage (which doesn’t have limit btw) is nice when you need to run but the 3 min CD is stupid.

Racials are mostly meaningly especially the 1% damage and resistences. Utility racials are better to consider. I love night elves shadowmelt for example. Darkflight is nice. Make camp is pretty awesome.

I play a Nightborne because I really like the look. I thought about changing her to get a little more dps, but for just playing in the open world, it would make pretty much no difference.

Hunters spam arcane shot and it’s magic damage.

I planned on going the lighting legendary on my monk. A NBs lighting is stronger.

O there’s actually a toy you can get with timewarped badges that gives you the what are you hiding animation. It even has a shorter CD for NBs.

Arcane pulse actually isn’t a horrible horrible racial. It can be great for peels in both pvp and pve.

I made a Nightborne mage and it works/fits. I also made a Sylvanas clone Nightborne hunter because she looked the most like her IMO plus her voice sounds similar to Sylvanas even though it’s not the same voice actor. And I like how she holds her bow.

As far as racials I think it is mainly for min/max players, which I tend to be but not on the epic hardcore side more on the I want to do the most damage side so 1% more damage is still more damage. Not sure of the scaling though.

And the other racial that slows could be very good in PvP if you do PvP. 50% reduced movement for 20sec is crazy if their CC break is on CD or they don’t have a CC break especially in a BG like Warsong Gulch with flag carriers.

Seriously. The Nightborne are masters of the arcane, and literally sustained themselves on arcane energy for 10,000 years to the point where their skin and hair glows, but the best the developers could come up with for racials are a mailbox, a trash tier snare, and a little buff to magical damage?

Everytime I start to think how crappy it is that I have no racial unless I sit down and eat for 10 seconds, I just got to remember that about half the Nightborne race has no racial.

The difference between a Nightborne warrior and a Panda racial (with BiS food buff) would be the equivalent of an approx +9-10 ilvl upgrade on a single piece of armor.

And Panda racials are below pretty subpar…

I finally unlocked these guys today, and inscription being my favourite profession I can’t wait to have the master of it at my disposal.

Nightborne got the short end if the stick in regards of racials, yes.
