Nightborne and last names

So long story short I’m trying to put together my Nightborne for RP and wanted to know. Should I have a last name?
Looking through the NPCs it doesn’t look like a lot have them but a big thing in suramar is noble houses.
As well does the last name follow the naming conventions of night elves? I tried googling the question but most threads relate to first names and their conventions.

Many shal’dorei last names seem to be made up shalassian words, usually sounding French. This is in contrast to kaldorei and sindorei names, which typically have a more obvious meaning. Ie: Stormrage, Brighthammer, Bearmantle, Sunstrider.

Thank you for the help! I slapped together a name that i feel works along the same construction.

Mine, for example, is Nithren Viltrae. Viltrae doesn’t MEAN anything, but it sounds vaguely French, so :man_shrugging:

it’s french for ‘smooth water filter’

I may or may not have used a variant or the exact last name of a last name I use in FFXIV for my elezen. Don’t at me

The real, but helpful-not-helpful answer honestly is ‘do whatever you want to do the most’. The people that get bent out of shape over draenei surnames or Nightborne surnames or whatever are probably not worth sweating over.
