This set is so broken that we might as well not even have a heritage armor set; just a helm and shoulders. Not only do we lack a tunic version of the chest piece like blood elves do, but everything is rigged around the robe itself. The pants have a V cut waist, which makes them virtually impossible to mix with any chest without it looking completely ridiculous. This wouldn’t necessarily be a HUGE problem if the nightborne heritage belt was an actual belt with straps that could cover up the waist of the pants. Instead it’s just a floating bauble than hangs in front of your waist.
To make matters worse, because of the interesting bits are attached to the robe itself, the gloves, legs and boots have no detail. The pants and boots look like leggings and slippers. They could work in a minimalist cloth set, I guess, but nothing else. If you want to mix and match the nightborne heritage armor, you’re pretty much screwed. The helm and shoulders do look cool, but without the robe, you’re left with a bunch of boring scraps that physically can’t be combined with other pieces of gear. And there are very few other armor pieces in the game that share a similar aesthetic.
Either the current set needs to be fixed so that we have a robe set and a tunic set, OR a completely new set needs to be designed that is better than this junk. Hell, you could cobble something together from suramar npc armor that would look better.
Oh, and before anybody comes in and says, “But some races don’t even have heritage armor!” I know. But blizzard CAN fix two issues at once. This isn’t and either or situation.

I agree. THe set is too much done around the belt that it can rarely be combined. And to make things more weird, Nightborne really do not go so covered (males have it worse, actually.)
This is the best I could do to combine the Nightborne heritage without being robes. I am kinda happy with it. But I’d have loved a minimalistic set or ways to make it minimalistic, like most Nightborne.

I think nightborne really got screwed over with this set, when there were already so many interesting assets from suramar they could have used.
What happened to those cool floating shoulders with the arcane runes? Why was the set silver and purple instead gold, burgundy and purple like most of the other Nightborne aesthetic?

You could’ve stopped there and been more correct. Faces still suck, too, even after the slight updates.

Did they remove the chin decoration off it now that it has options in the character creator? I haven’t bothered unlocking it because because it’s attached to the robe. In general nightborne shoulders don’t sit right, they float above the shoulders and look huge. It seems like they never fitted them to the nightborne model and just left it like they were night elf models. There was a red and gold recolor, maybe they will release it someday.

I think Nightborne heritage armor could definitely use a bit of touch ups.
Every heritage should have a shirt/armored chest and robe option I think.
Also yeah make that chin thing be attached to the helm…
I really hate how unlike the VE heritage armor even the set displays different on guys then girls, the VE heritage for example is unique in they finally let it appear / work the same for both it’s basically a crop top for both, yet the NB is back to making sure the guy version like long and ill fitting vibes compared to the female version which shows more skin

I would have kinda preferred (in almost all cases actually since it happens a lot) that the male NB armor stayed consistent, everything turning into long ugly robes for guys isn’t fun / cool and I appreciate the fact for VE armor they like didn’t randomly turn the guy armor into a robe or weird breastplate

what i think they should do is take it off the heritage set completely and just add it as a customization option, both the shape of the chin armor and the color are unique

I think that’s what I’d do too if it were my choice.
definitely need a robes/pantsless option. Just a battle skirt similar to what night elves have in their unobtainable sets. Nightborne theme of course for the design.
The caster heritage armor is nice but it doesn’t work for melee focused classes
On that, I will disagree. Nightborne need more facial customization options, but the basic structure is cool. It’s a lot different looking than the other elf type faces and that’s part of what makes nightborne stand out in my opinion.

They still don’t look like Nightborne. That’s the problem.

Fair enough. I do still like the nightborne face though. Maybe add in a few customization option to make them look like accurate to the Suramar models
I was so disappointed with it because I expected our heritage to look something like thalyssra’s or the other ones and instead I got another damn robe

The Nightborne NPC’s have so much style, I wish instead of ONE heritage set, players could just wear all their outfits.

This needed a robeless version. A race who wears minimalistic clothing sometimes, being so covered is strange. I can’t imagine a Nightborne Rogue, Monk or protection Warrior with a dress.
Just look at this:

Here is the direction I went, for my Mage.
I agree with many, that the chin bit needs to be removed from the robe, and left solely to character customization, and that the top needs a tunic version. They really should have created multiple pieces per slot, for all heritage armor sets, so that people can mix and match the theme, but not be limited to a cloth/leather/mail/plate look. I feel like they could have devoted an entire patch to one race, and keep going until they are all done. Some pieces are already in the game, worn by the NPCs within each race. Start there, and iterate on those.

Not a big fan of the Nighborne or the Void elf sets, but I hadn’t noticed the things you mentioned. Will look tonight when I get home.
