you don’t appear to have made a point, other than you think they’re stupid.
lots of people disagree, they enjoy the animations, they like not having a regular hearthstone take up a bag slot, and it’s a nice easy “plus one” on their achievement towards their Mechanized Lumber Extractor (among other things)

At the vendor it reads wherever your current hearthstone is. In my case, it was already at The Heart of the Forest. So, that is what I read, and assumed that it was a permanent perk for your covenant that you gained by achieving a certain mark. Not knowing how toys work, it was so frustrating to find out it only maps to my regular hearthstone. Early on 750 anima is not an insignificant amount of work, simply for an item that has no practical benefit. I think everyone’s money should be refunded, that WoW should consider it a bug (in community, if not design) and update the game to reflect this.

But you assumed it meant that. That is on you since the toy works exactly as intended and connects to your hearth location. If you change your hearth location, then the toy stays set with where your hearth is set to send you. Nowhere does it say in the tooltip that it will send you to your covenant location. Just to your hearth location.

Same boat - My hearth loc was set to Heart of Forest and reading the description as such suggested I would be able to change my hearthstone loc to somewhere else as I would now be able to use this toy whenever I needed to hit my covenant HQ - description should read “Returns you to your current hearthstone location” to avoid confusion - or they could just make all of these “toys” send you to the designated covenant HQs, thus making players have something worthwhile they could use for their time/effort in collect the anima that could have been used for many other things

I hope it’s a glitch. If not, what’s the point of having it?

Mainly for vanity, although it also has the perk of freeing up a slot in your bags.

I just wasted 750 anima on this???
There was nothing in the description that made it clear this was a purely cosmetic item.
All it states is that it’s a toy, and then it replicates the text from your current hearthstone target (mine was already aimed at the heart of the forest, like other’s who posted the same) making it seem like this is a hearthstone pointed specifically at the heart of the forest.
As someone who’s new to WoW, this feels like a COMPLETE rip-off. I would not have wasted the anima I was grinding for if it was clear, IN THE DESCRIPTION that this is a purely cosmetic, and otherwise regular hearthstone.

all hearthstones which go into the toybox are purely cosmetic.
it’s always wise to do a few seconds research prior to purchasing any items which you’re unsure about.
“Speak to an Innkeeper in a different place to change your home location.” This line appears the normal Hearthstone, AND on the Night Fae Hearthstone. This means the Night Fae Hearthstone is not locked to one location as you can change it on a whim. Just because you stopped reading midway doesn’t make it a bug.
its just another hearthstone. The Bastion one is the same.
@Blizzard - You need to fix this for each covenant so it returns the toon back to their central sanctum. It really is ridiculous…and why would anyone want a cosmetic effect for a hearthstone anyway?

Lots of people want the cosmetic effect. Just because you don’t like it means that this is a bug. You can provide feedback and ask Blizzard to change the way these hearthstones work by posting in General Discussion.

If those hearthstones were MEANT to take you to a pre-designated hearthstone point they would NOT BE TOYS. Your Garrison Hearthstone and Legion Dalaran Hearthstones are NOT TOYS, and where do they take you? Your Garrison in Draenor and Dalaran, Broken Isles, respectively. “Speak to an Innkeeper in a different place to change your home location.” – this phrase is not present on the Garrison and Dalaran Hearthstones because you can’t change their locations. This phrase exists on the Hearthstone toys on your vendor.

As a new player, this was confusing. Defend Blizzard all you want - the item IS in fact useless.

It’s a cosmetic thing, same as the hearthstones for the different covenants. The only hearthstones that take you elsewhere and that don’t share a cooldown are the Garrison hearthstone and the one to New Dalaran from Legion.
But also as a by the by. Threads older than a few weeks are considered ‘dead’ topics, and necroing threads usually gets them locked down. If you’ve a question or an issue you’ve come across, please create a new thread.

I think the point everyone is missing here is that it is very common for folks that see this item at the vendor to:
- be a member of the Night Fae covenant
- already have their hearthstone set to Heart of the Forest
- not be aware of other hearthstone toys
Because this combination is very common, when you see the item at the vendor it SEEMS like they put a special item in the game that lets you hearth to Heart of the Forest, which is really nice because you basically don’t get to choose where you want your hearthstone in Shadowlands because if you pick anywhere other than Heart of the Forest, you’re going to have a bad time because you constantly have to go there to send your companions on quests, turn in anima, tend to your garden, etc. So, you see the item and you are excited that they have solved this problem and a little annoyed at yourself for having not seen it earlier. You buy it with great excitement, only to use it and see your regular hearthstone go on cooldown.
Folks are not wrong about how it actually works, and it makes sense when you have the rest of the information about heathstone toys in general and all of that, but it should be admitted that it is confusing for a large subset of people and it is entirely possible to avoid this confusion by using different words on the hearthstone toys.
Anyways, I still like it and use it to free up a slot in my inventory, but it was a huge disappointment at first and I think it’s silly how dismissive folks are being about the confusion on this item.
