Night Elves: Trashed and written into corner

I really like the current Night Elf story. It’s always “10,000 years ago” with them and now they finally have some drive and edge. What was the night elf story like before the burning? Malfurion crying in Valsharah and them constantly losing something. Now they’re finally fighting back and going forward instead of sleeping in their trees.

By Night Elves you mean the Night Born (Horde) ( Highborn), which was a totally different elven caste that was exiled by the druidic society of the true NE? You know, the same highborn that evolved into High Elves and finally Blood Elves, which also happen to be Horde and complicit in genocide and war crimes?

It seems you have either forgotten alot of lore or are glossing over it because you don’t want to admit the Horde is clearly evil and complicit in genocide.

To be fair. We don’t know about either of these yet going forward.

We don’t know if tyrande will die, and as much as I dislike(d) her I’d rather malfurion die.

I’m kinda torn in wether or not sylvanas will live through the next xpac. I’d rather she die at this point tbh, but blizz has a thing for her :man_shrugging:

High born are still night elves. If your going to lump the entirety of the horde under one umbrella, despite the different opinions and races and all the forces who weren’t present for teldrassil, then I will be blaming all night elves for Azsharas actions.

PS when night elves got mages, it is because they accepted highborne back into their society. That was the lore reason they got sorcery back despite their druidic nature and anti sorcery history. So you can’t claim highborn aren’t part of night elven society.

No, the highborn were selectively bred (they used eugenics) to be the best magic users, warriors, etc. They were not espousing the values of normal common NE and Azshara was willing to let them be consumed by demons because they were worthless rags to her. So no, you cannot blame what remains of the NE population. The only race that seems to have been excluded in the genocide was the Tauren, and I am cool with them, and have been for awhile. They never do anything malicious, they are just peaceful cow people until they get antagonized or roped into doing things by orcs.

As far as NE mages…you do realize that in order for someone to be accepted back, they have to be exiled in the first place? The NE forbid any use of magic, on pain of death, and then showed mercy when some of the highborn (ancestors of BE) conjured magic storm that again threatened the NE survivors. They were “recently” accepted in order for players to experience mages for NE, much as the Void Elves were created so that Alliance had BE models. The highborn that received clemency are very few and far between, survivors of crumbling ruins. The only highborn that really exist in mass are the nightborn, who are also genocidal murders, like Azshara, who turned against their distant brethren due to cowardice and greed.

It is true, I just feel like it’s going to happen in some way. Surely if Blizzard wanted Sylvanas killed off or captured, we would have done it and there wouldn’t be that loyalists scene. Blizzard seems to have more for her and have a thing for her. (Just saying Blizzard, a good writer knows when to kill off the villian whether you like them or not.).

Let face it Elves were always trash anyways .

night elven will probably be at the heart of an upcoming expansion, involving relocating to the moon, elune, or becoming part of the white dragon flight with elune and even ysera. perhaps the tree will also be mended with moonlight and grow into a beautiful, radiant tree, with glistening pearl and silver leaves, and pale bark that shimmers, an emitting an eternal glow that both soothes and warns.

If I were writer I would have a young night elf who escaped the calamity with a single seed, keep safe and tender in a small pot of earth. she leaves her destroyed home as her family is no longer, and under hooded cloak leaves out the back of the burning rubble. Perhaps her grandmother hands her the pot and seed pouch and tells her to leave while she can and to bring it to someone the grandmother knows, perhaps a furbolg or member of the white dragon flight, who will teach the young night elf the how and where to plant such a seed so that it grows strong.

Stop paying. They do not care about night elves or their players.

That’s right, take your slap on the face and LIKE IT!

Really, the way with the Alliance being written is ghastly but close to what the Night Elves have been through and can suffer… Be afraid! Be very afraid!

Blizzard will put the Night Elves through the same thing the Khalai Protoss went through. Their entire culture will be reduced to a lie!

Please show me in the game where only the Forsaken either helped or stood idly by while Teldrassil…and innocent men, women, and children…were burned alive simply “to kill hope”. Go ahead, I’ll wait.
