I’ve been wondering for a while… why are trolls allowed to have all of their Loa supporting them and their cause but the Night Elves can’t even get Cenarius who was historically a staunch ally of the Night Elves? Shouldn’t Cenarius be doing something after Teldrassil and Darkshore?
And what of the other Wild Gods? Are they happy just watching the Horde destroy / corrupt Darkshore and Ashenvale?
I don’t have a good reason as to why. I’m just gonna go with blizzard forgot, i can’t possibly imagine they hate night elves that much to make cenarius be neutral.
It’s not part of the story Blizzard wants to tell, same reason Vindicaar didn’t help out. They explicitly said that’s the reason VIndicaar wasn’t there.
If you want an in story reason, it’s very hard to get the Wild Gods to work together. In the WotA Cenarius even spent an entire book convincing them to fight the Burning Legion of all things.
It’s still the same out of story reason. Same reason Rexxar wasn’t at SoO, or orcs weren’t on Argus, or the Keepers aren’t in Silithus right now. Blizzard didn’t want to use them and that’s that.
It just… feels so bad, especially for people who played Warcraft 3. Back then Cenarius fought the Horde because they were logging a few trees… now they literally plague and defile the land and he sits on his butt watching from the sidelines.
Honestly that is infuriating. I hope the next time they fail to defend something that we let them get harvested by whatever Big Bad has come their way.
Maybe because of what seemed convenient to the plot.
Cenarius still looks like an entity and a leader to all druids of that neutral organization. Already the loas seem more ancient divinities, which help those who spend practically their entire lives giving them offerings, prayers and acting according to their moral code.
Anyway, are the loas being really efficient now? They did not stop all that confusion involving old gods, much less the Alliance invasion even with direct deals with Rezan and Bwonsamdi - in MoP the Alliance did not seem able to beat them unaided, even more in their homeland with all the loas … But of course that was disregarded.
The loas are weak and ineffective when the plot desires it, just as Elune, Cenarius, and Vindicaar are often non-existent for the same reasons.
You talking about the Loa who so far have made Talanji’s boat move faster and/or are killed by either traitors for their power or by the PC for being corrupted by the Old Gods? Those Loa?
Do you really want to see the Wild Gods show up and get the loa treatment on top of what’s already happening to the Night Elves?
Though now I’m wondering which wild god/night elf combination would look the coolest. Would a night elf that stole the power of one of the bear wild gods be a purple furbolg?
Maybe what we need is a heretical night elf cult that forsakes Elune and instead starts forming client/patron relationships with the wild gods. Sort of a reverse Lun’alai.
I wouldn’t expect all of the wild gods to show up, but Cenarius and his children at the least. We saw keepers helping in the fight after Teldrassil burned. Maybe Blizz is trying to keep him as the neutral center of the drudic faction, like that did with Malfurion. Nature is at risk with The Horde in the Eleven lands and their duty is to nature so that should be invoved in some way.
I would suspect he remembers what happened last time he fought the Horde and likes being alive.
But on a more serious note, the Wild Gods are not a NE thing. Let us not forget that Goldrinn chose a human champion, and a lot of the Wild Gods choose Panderian. Cenarius is the main one associated with NEs but he is more a druid character than a NE one.
Your guys already had their establishing material. The troll loa establishing material had to come from somewhere. Don’t worry about it though, you’ll be seeing plenty more of your Wild Ancients in the future (albeit almost always in neutral content) while the troll loa are going to never come up again, like most troll content.
Look at the timelines. You had Cenarius established in WC3, come back as neutral in Cata, and show up again in the same capacity in Legion. The trolls had Bwonsamdi established even more briefly in Wrath and now he’s come back as someone abusive and untrustworthy and who we’ll probably have to kill by the end of the expansion in BFA.
