Sort of. I’m finally getting around to clearing the missions on reforged, and I’m doing the night elf missions, and the question popped into my head- are the Keepers technically considered dryads? Or are they like a male version of dryad? do they mate with Dryads? They are both a night elf/stag cenarius hybrid thingy, so are they the same race?
Yes. Both are collectively called the Children of Cenarius (or some variation on that), but the males are Keepers, and the females are Dryads.
I’m not sure. Presumably so. But as of the Traveller series, dryads are born from special acorns. So who knows how… unconvential their reproduction is.
Pretty much. They’re all Cenarius’s children, grandchildren, and descendents. As well as kin of the other centaur-like races. The centaur are the children of Cenarius’s son, Zaetar. While the magnataur are, according to Brann, the result of a fling Cenarius doesn’t like to talk about.
Whoa! That’s… interesting.
Heh! I gotta figure this out now.
Thanks you for the answer.
They are called “fauns” when they are young as well, skipping infancy/childhood straight into adolescence when they’re born from the acorn.
This was the one that had that happen.
Also, after reading that article about her, I learned that she was killed in the Traveler series and they named a ship “the Dryad” after her.
Also, that the WoWpedia articles on these characters are incomplete and full of holes. One character will be killed by another, but never mentioned in that other character’s history at all.
Keepers of the Grove are the male side of the “Children of Cenarius” breed. They seem to typically have less numbers but display greater powers. They do not mate with Dryads, because Dryads are born from acorns. We do not know how Keepers of the Grove are born, but its most likely something similar. I imagine it must be at least slightly different, because otherwise they’d inherit the same overpowered lore ability to resist almost all hostile magic lol.
It’s not that unconventional. Most people come from nuts.
I don’t think they reproduce at all… being immortal nature spirits.
don’t forget the stonemother and the centaurs.
I still wonder how that happened. How he reproduced with an earth elemental.
You think that’s shocking… take a serious read of what Norse and Greek gods do. Even Loki gets pregnant every now and then. And Zeus brings new meaning to the term “golden tinkle”.
transubstantiation. soul magic too. sex magic as well.
they’re all guilty. even their imitators…
We’re trying to apply biology to magical creatures who can create new life by willing it to be so. As the daughter of Therazane, she can create entirely sentient Earth Elementals, while Zaetar could likely do something similar with plants (or maybe even dryads, as mentioned with the acorns).
To that end, they could combine their magical creations and poof, centaurs.
