Why not? Gimme a good reason
I can’t think of a reason. Same thing with KT and gnomes.
Give us all three, Blizz.
night elf shamans first pls
Because Nelfs don’t worship the Light. They never have. The dead ghost and one female who left her culture aren’t the entire race. And Blizz specifically said back in Legion that these outliers are not the norm.
So unless they add in class skins, nope.
Because Night Elves worship Elune, Mother Moon. The Moon does not give Light only reflects it.
Tauren’s worship the Sun, An’she.
Blood Elf’s gained the ability to use the Light through the Sunwell after failing to forcibly use it.
Humans, Dwarfs, and Draenei all worship the Light, almost as a incarnation of a deity.
Troll’s gain the ability through Loa.
Any in game class that does not use the Light nor holy magic only has it for gameplay reasons. For example Forsaken and holy/disc priests. Canonically the Light causes them severe pain and agony to attempt to use and some do it. However, it’s exceptionally rare lore wise.
Night Elves simply don’t fit. Their holy magic can be seen as the Light of the Moon or the reflection across divine planes, but not the Light itself which the paladin directly calls upon.
There isn’t one.
Blizzard already said our priests are using the light through Elune.
Paladins would be no different and Legion introduced them. Blizzards just being weird again by not giving us the class for nelves.
Where, exactly? If you just mean the mechanics of the Priest class, try again.
NE have nothing to do with the human and Draenei’s “holy light”.
Paladins embody the light on an intimate level, priests call light down.
Nelves currently have no strong ties to the light and elune isnt enough to justify someone completely devoting themselves to the light.
She is even an icon for the moon and night, doesnt exactly say light unlike taurens worshipping a sun god in comparison to night elf night god.
Doesn’t stop them from being priests. The first human paladins were just priests who decided to put on plate armor and go fight in the first war. I don’t see why Nelf priests can’t do the same thing while worshipping Elune.
Sean Copeland on Twitter (2014-07-22). “Both priests and paladins can wield the Holy Light. However, not all wield it through the same means (e.g., Elune, An’she)”
The way I look at it I don’t see why a member of the Sisterhood of Elune couldn’t become more than a priest like Tyrande did. And I’m not talking about her becoming a night warrior, I’m referring to her picking up a bow and fighting, not just casting spells like a Priest.
Because paladins are about the Light and night elves are about Elune. Night elf paladins were forever ruined for me the tragedy of writing known as Delas Moonfang was brought into existence.
Yeah that questline was stupid but it would be cool if they did something better.
Class skins would be needed to create Elunite Templars.
Such a shame that we don’t get any real effort out into like…glyphs or class skins/renames which would work out.
Because paladins are all about shiny Naaru glowstick light. That is a huge thematic departure from what a paladin of Elune should be.
No NE pallies until they can class skin it into something more appropriate.
Add a new ranged spec for pallies that’s Elune focused and I’ll maybe consider it.
I don’t accept that. Priests of Elune draw their power from their goddess, who we now know to be a Life Titan. Completely different sources.
I want nelf paladins. But I also want unique animations for different paladins. I don’t want my nelf pally to worship the light.
Same for priests for that matter.
Again though. The first human paladins were literally former priests who decided to strap on some plate in order to serve more effectively in a battlefield role. I don’t know about the lore for Draenei paladins, but I assume they did something similar. Logically, I see no reason why Night Elf priests who worship Elune can’t come to a similar conclusion and do something similar.
Well if the devs said it and you don’t accept it then clearly we know which one we should believe o’great overlord of wow.
That was eight years ago, and devs have been wrong before.

They certainly can, and as Tovi pointed out the Priestesses of the Moon were more like paladins in the RTS games anyways, at least in a martial sense.
However, they shouldn’t be throwing around Holy hammers and calling on their ancestors with glowy golden wings. Their abilities need to look different.

He’s not a dev, he’s the Historian Supervisor of Creative Development.
He is literally the one who decides what is and is not lore.
